Title: Manager, Environmental & Sustainability

Location : Queen Creek, AZ

Summary:

The Environmental & Sustainability Manager will use their knowledge to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and mentor employees in the development of a strong EH&S culture. This role will oversee a team of environmental resources to ensure compliance for site air, waste and water regulatory requirements. In this role, the Manager will evaluate workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations, and function as an expert resource to teams for program development and consistent implementation of company EH&S standards. This role also leads site RC 14001 program development and internal and external audit preparation.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure company's permit application and renewal activities are complete, including but not limited to, air, waste, storm water, waste water permits and other reporting requirements
  • Management and continuous improvement of environmental programs including wastewater, hazardous waste, air emissions and storm water compliance.
  • Drive the ISO 14001 certification process and identify areas of continuous improvement in all Environment programs in order to maintain ISO 14001 standard(s)
  • Develop and mentor team of environmental compliance engineers to build team knowledge and ensure compliance. Develop strategy for continuous learning and development through knowledge gap assessment and support of learning initiatives.
  • Oversee activities of site waste handlers.
  • Performance management including goalsetting to align with overall EHS, site and corporate goals.
  • Deploy and manage environmental initiatives to continually improve performance of environmental programs and processes.
  • Ensure designated permits and reports comply with company standards and applicable Federal/State/Local and environmental regulations
  • Correspond to designated federal, state and local agencies as necessary
  • Provide and support environmental review of site projects in support of management of change program.
  • Ensure site training on environmental initiatives is in place.
  • Oversee site first party audits relating to environmental programs.
  • Routinely review program status and identify opportunities to continuously improve site environmental programs.
  • Accountable to all site environmental KPIs.
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards
    • 5S : Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    • 3R : Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience and 3 years leadership and/or consulting experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or related field required.
  • Deep knowledge of applicable federal and local environmental regulatory programs relating to air, water and waste with ability to coach others.
  • Experience in leading RC14001 implementation
  • Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical

Skills :
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong technical skills required to carry out complex permitting projects with minimal coaching
  • Ability to work independently and support others with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with both internal and external customers and regulatory agencies
