Summary

The purpose of the Manager, Engineering power generation includes, but is not limited to leading an engineering team in a high energy manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the Director, power generation this person will be in charge of a team, designing and building power generation packages using reciprocating engines in the 1MW -5MW range. You and your team would be accountable for all aspects of design and execution for the power generation product line in the USA.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan and directs all aspects of the engineering activities, responsible for assigning of workload and maintaining proper staffing levels.
  • Ensure areas of responsibility meet goals and objectives by providing systems, resources and training as needed
  • Identify and address gaps in engineering standards and best engineering practices.
  • Lead and support recruitment and staffing requirements of group.
  • Accountable for accuracy, completeness and timeliness of group deliverables.
  • Chair weekly meetings with the Project Coordination/Project Engineering staff. The main objectives of these meetings are to discuss resource loadings, technical updates, standards updates, project issues, etc.
  • Plan and set up training for the engineering group in relevant design codes and engineering practices
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a Training Plan for new Engineers.
  • Lead and implement product improvements along with product cost reductions.
  • Develop, refine and document design standards
  • Sets goals and objectives for department


Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with professional engineering designation is preferred.
  • 7-10 years' experience in a leadership role
  • Strong experience and working knowledge of packaged rotating equipment using reciprocating engines
  • Experience with installation and commissioning of power generation equipment considered an asset
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in a project Engineering leadership position managing over all engineering of large, complex projects and business processes involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, time management and presentation skills
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate, lead and manage change.


Physical Requirements

Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.
