Job Overview

The Manager, Engineering is responsible for overseeing group leaders of project management and technical resource teams within the Engineering department. These teams ensure the successful execution of engineering projects, including customer engagement, project-related technical support, and support of manufacturing processes. Our Manager, Engineering oversees the planning and execution of projects by managing resources, budgets, and timelines while ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. This role provides technical leadership and guidance to project teams, supports employee development, facilitates effective communication with stakeholders, and drives the implementation of best practices to achieve project objectives, promote continuous improvement, and foster innovation.

Every day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:
  • Provide leadership and direction to project management and technical teams, ensuring alignment with company strategic objectives and the development and execution of annual goals that support the organization's 3-5-year plan.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and department leaders to establish priorities, monitor resource allocation, and maintain staffing levels that support customer and factory demand.
  • Develop, track, and analyze department metrics to measure performance, identify improvement opportunities, and drive quality, on-time delivery, productivity, and profitability.
  • Lead operational reviews and promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective project execution and continuous improvement.
  • Drive standardization across teams through scalable processes, training programs, and documentation that support projected workload demands and organizational growth.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), including adherence to quality manuals, work instructions, procedures, and standard work processes.
  • Champion process improvements and procedural changes that enhance quality, increase efficiency, and reduce workflow disruptions.
  • Support project teams in customer interactions, including customer meetings and site visits, to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and engagement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading problem-solving initiatives and promoting employee participation in root-cause analysis and improvement events.
  • Develop and mentor direct reports through onboarding, coaching, performance management, and employee development activities to build a highly engaged and capable workforce.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for additional services, solutions, and business growth.


What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business or Project Management related fields or equivalent in education with experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in an engineering or project management role within a related industry, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership
  • Proven leadership experience driving strategic goals and business initiatives through effective team management, collaboration, and accountability for results.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, mentor and develop employees, and influence cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including performance management, coaching, training, and career development, with a track record of building engaged, high-performing teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, optimize resources, and make strategic decisions that support business objectives and operational demands.

  • Technical knowledge/understanding of Panel and Equipment Enclosure Engineering and related manufacturing proccesses (preferred but not required).
