Full Job Description

Manager, Editorial Strategy and Governance

The Manager of Editorial Strategy & Governance serves as the connective tissue across Financial Advisor Services (FAS), linking business priorities, subject-matter expertise, thought leadership, and content execution into a unified editorial agenda. This role leads the editorial operating system for FAS, ensuring Vanguard's best thinking is surfaced, prioritized, developed, and delivered in ways that strengthen advisor relationships and support business objectives.

Working across leadership teams, researchers, strategists, marketers, and content producers, the role establishes editorial direction, governs content priorities, and creates consistency across advisor-facing experiences. The manager ensures that individual content initiatives contribute to a broader, coherent Vanguard point of view rather than operating as disconnected efforts.

Key Responsibilities
Editorial leadership and enterprise connectivity

  • Establish and lead the overarching editorial strategy and content agenda for FAS.
  • Serve as the primary editorial liaison among FAS leaders, thought leaders, content creators, researchers, and enterprise partners.
  • Bring together work led across multiple business areas into a coordinated editorial roadmap that integrates priorities from FAS and other enterprise partners.
  • Connect initiatives across practice management, markets and investing, advisor insights, AI, and emerging growth priorities into a unified thought leadership strategy.

Governance and content operations

  • Lead the FAS content governance process and editorial advisory board.
  • Identify duplication, gaps, and opportunities to rationalize, retire, repurpose, or expand existing content.
  • Develop and uphold editorial standards that ensure consistency, quality, message alignment, and audience relevance across the content ecosystem.
  • Establish and evolve the content operating system that governs how ideas are prioritized, approved, developed, distributed, and maintained.

Thought leadership development

  • Engage researchers and subject-matter experts early in the ideation process to uncover the strongest stories, most compelling insights, and highest-value opportunities.
  • Ensure Vanguard's best thinking is translated into clear, differentiated, advisor-focused narratives.
  • Partner with strategists, writers, and marketers to elevate concepts, sharpen points of view, and improve execution.
  • Help shape original thought leadership platforms and signature initiatives that strengthen Vanguard's position as a trusted advisor resource.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience in financial journalism and/or creating thought leadership in financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex subject matter into compelling audience-centered narratives.
  • Strong editorial judgment and experience identifying high-value stories, themes, and opportunities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving senior stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and relationship-management skills.
  • Familiarity with financial services, investment markets, wealth management, or financial advisor audiences preferred.
