Manager/Director of Bilateral Settlements - Depending on Experience

Carmel, IN

This position will be responsible for completing bilateral settlement services for the Company's members and clients while also providing leadership and supervision to the Settlement Analysts, Senior Settlement Analyst and Lead Settlement Analyst of the bilateral market.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages and oversees physical gas, financial gas and renewable settlements and verification of settlement invoices for ACES members/clients.
  • Monitors and refines workflow and business processes to meet goals to improve/enhance defined procedures and processes for the power, physical gas, financial gas and renewable settlements and verification of settlement invoices for assigned member/client portfolios.
  • Provides guidance and resolves questions, disputes, and data errors in the settlement computations
  • Compiles and analyzes settlement data for end of month and customized reporting
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal departments and external organizations to answer questions and resolve issues
  • Bilateral Settlement Team Lead for the system development, product implementation and on-going maintenance of bilateral settlement/risk management software
  • Demonstrates and shares own knowledge and expertise relating to the bilateral settlement practices, procedures and theories
  • Demonstrates and maintains an understanding and knowledge in bilateral energy markets
  • Identifies detailed solutions and improvements to procedures and software to improve accuracy, efficiency and timeliness
  • Continually monitors and refines workflow and business processes to meet the goals to improve/enhance settlement process
  • Oversee the reporting to FERC of the power EQR (Electric Quarterly Report) and annual FERC FORM 552 gas reporting for ACES members/clients.
  • Stays abreast of current topics, changes and issues related to regulatory reporting at FERC on behalf of ACES' members/clients.
  • Ensures end user documentation is developed and maintained for power, gas, renewable, and FERC regulatory report customers.
  • Responds to various information requests from auditors and other groups
  • Exhibits leadership skills when interacting with co-workers and business associates
  • Ensures direct reports receive adequate training to be able to perform assigned responsibilities and assist training other team members.
  • Team Lead during implementation of bilateral settlement services for new members/customers.
  • Ability to travel
  • Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position

Required Qualifications (Manager):
  • Bachelor Accounting, Economics or similar discipline
  • 7 + years of energy industry or comparable experience

  • Experience in the energy industry's financial and accounting procedures and requirements
  • An understanding of accounting and billing of energy transactions
  • An understanding of accounting and billing of gas transactions and transmission service, capacity, and renewables
