We are hiring for a Manager Data Technology to join our team!

The Manager Data Technology partners with stakeholders to identify business needs and deliver data solutions aligned with corporate strategy. This role leads technical initiatives, supports team and user development, advances data maturity, and manages data tool optimization and implementation.

In addition to collaborating across departments, the Manager, Data Technology oversees the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies to ensure best practices in data management. The individual is responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring staff, and coordinating training opportunities to build data literacy. By establishing effective governance frameworks, the manager ensures data quality, security, and compliance while driving innovation throughout the organization.

What you'll be doing:

Data Management

Lead data strategy and provide guidance for stakeholders. Design, code, and implement solutions for data handling and analysis. Address complex cross-functional issues, optimize integrated data masking, and manage evolving data needs. Analyze, develop, and test advanced services, create complex data models, and ensure robust unit and acceptance testing. Review and update data access technologies to support stakeholder requirements.

General Architect Responsibility

Validate concepts through technical mockups and proofs before development. Document architecture formally, assess solution viability, and highlight delivery risks. Create reusable components for applications and encourage holistic, long-term thinking. Maintain knowledge of organizational operations and products.

Support and Maintenance

Collaborate to resolve reported issues using troubleshooting skills. Support team members and guide problem-solving efforts.

Communication and Team Effectiveness

Encourage teamwork and continuous improvement. Practice active listening, escalate issues as needed, and produce clear, professional communication. Lead peer reviews to improve documentation consistency and recognize team contributions.

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary degree in computer technology or IT
  • Over 10 years' experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and cloud architecture (e.g., lakehouse)
  • 5+ years with direct management experience of data teams
  • Proficient in SQL, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, ETL tools; familiar with Databricks, MS Azure, DBT, Pentaho, Tibco
  • Skilled in data modelling, Master Data Management, and system support (preferred)
  • Experienced in developing and enforcing coding standards, as well as unit, compliance, integration, volume/stress, and user acceptance testing
  • Strong problem-solving for complex business issues; Agile/Scrum project delivery background
  • Training/experience in analytics, machine learning, AI is an asset; knowledge of banking and financial sectors
  • Excellent listening, needs analysis, collaboration, detail orientation, team guidance, and organizational influence


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certificates in innovation or emerging technology to show movement and staying up to date with trends


Other Role Requirements:

  • Work arrangement: Remote first
  • Occasional travel to Edmonton, Calgary, or Red Deer may be necessary as part of this position.
