The Manager, Crew Planning leads all Crew Planning functions to ensure crew resources are used safely, compliantly, and efficiently. This role oversees crew pairing and schedule construction while balancing operational demands, labor agreements, and regulatory requirements. Success in the position requires clear, timely communication with company executives and union leadership. The Manager also leads a team of five professionals focused on delivering strong planning results.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of all crew pairings and PBS schedules.
- Forecast crewmember line averages and reserve coverage by aircraft type, fleet, and domicile.
- Establish and validate block, connection, duty, firebreak and rest requirement buffer values; assess effectiveness following each bid month.
- Produce and present monthly reports comparing planned versus actual staffing, including absences and attrition.
- Collaborate closely with Pilot and Flight Attendant union leadership regarding schedule changes, bid awards, and staffing levels.
- Oversee training and ongoing education for Inflight PBS SAFAs (Special Assignment Flight Attendants).
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement approved automation and system enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, labor agreements, and company policies related to pairing and schedule construction.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports through performance management, feedback, and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2-4 years of airline experience in Crew Planning, Crew Scheduling, Crew Staffing, OE Scheduling, or Training Scheduling strongly preferred.
- 1-2 years of supervisory or people leadership experience
- 5 years of supervisory or people leadership preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience in Jeppesen Crew Pairing, Altitude PBS, and Sabre CrewTrac strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and be able to work with all levels of an organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate status effectively.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment subject to critical deadlines and can also be performed remotely depending on the task.
- Must be able to work extra hours when necessary, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Some travel may be necessary.
- Minimal physical exertion such as pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags files, and electronic equipment not more than 30 lbs.
