Position Purpose:

Role Summary

The Account Origination Manager directs the front-end credit application pipeline, focusing entirely on intake, customer onboarding execution, and pipeline velocity. This manager ensures that all incoming applications and credit modification requests are thoroughly vetted for completeness, data integrity, and compliance, and are efficiently package-routed to the Underwriting team. This role serves as the critical operational bridge between Sales, customers, and Underwriting to maximize onboarding efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pipeline & Workflow Management: Oversee the end-to-end commercial credit application intake process, managing the workflow queues to ensure seamless and efficient routing from customer submission to the Underwriting team.
  • Documentation & Coordination: Actively coordinate with external customers and sales teams to request, follow up on, and obtain proper documentation (e.g., financial statements, corporate guarantees, banking details) required to build a complete credit file.
  • Data Validation & KYC Compliance: Direct the pre-underwriting verification process, ensuring that customer master data, corporate hierarchies, tax exemption certificates, and initial Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation are accurate and complete before underwriting review.
  • Process Optimization: Leverage technology to automate low-touch data gathering, minimize application friction, and accelerate the pre-underwriting pipeline.
  • Sales & Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with Sales leadership to set clear expectations regarding application requirements, resolve missing documentation bottlenecks, and provide real-time visibility into the onboarding pipeline.
  • SLA Management: Define, track, and report on strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for application turnaround times, specifically measuring velocity from "Application Received" to "Package Submitted to Underwriting."


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
  • Typically reports to Senior Manager Credit Services
  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.


Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • A thorough working knowledge of the principles/disciplines of credit marketing, including Account Acquisition & Activation, Loyalty Marketing, Sales Promotion, etc.
  • A thorough understanding and knowledge of the principles/disciplines of the retail industry.
  • A strong grasp of Project Management skills and requirements. A proven record of developing new financial products and/or services. Able to manage/coordinate multiple, simultaneous projects. Understands Time Management skills and uses those skills to deal with unplanned projects and interruptions. Both demonstrates and teaches those skills to direct reports. Demonstrated strong results in managed projects
  • Ability to leverage data and analysis to craft a well-thought story utilizing Power Point.
  • Able to think strategically about business problems and opportunities and to focus efforts on projects that most closely support key company initiatives.
  • Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated decisiveness and sound decision making skills.
