MANAGER, CORPORATE ACCOUNTING
INVEST OTTAWA - OPERATIONS
The Manager, Corporate Accounting plays a key leadership role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, deferred capital contributions, and payroll. This position ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, supports budgeting and forecasting processes, and maintains strong internal controls. The Manager leads financial audits, ensures compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and acts as the primary liaison with finance system vendors.
- Corporate Pay Band D: $76,000-$114,000
- Hiring Salary Range: $76,000 - $104,500

- 10 days per month required in the office at Bayview Yards
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of accounting staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end reconciliations
- Produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages
- Liaise with shared services department leaders on annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
- Contribute to cash flow projections, budgets, and forecasts related to shared services
- Maintain an effective internal control framework and drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems
- Lead the annual financial audit process
- Review and approve month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules
- Review and approve all tax filings, including HST, EHT, WSIB, T1044, T4, and T4As
- Support IO team members with regulatory filings and other requests, such as annual insurance data collection, by providing financial data
- Ensure finance systems are functioning effectively and meet organizational needs, acting as the primary contact with the vendors that support IO
- Manage and optimize the use of accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Emburse, Planful, EBiz)
- Present financial insights verbally and in writing to a range of stakeholders - including interpretation of finance policies and procedures, training on finance systems, and interpretation of monthly financial reports
- Build and maintain a diverse team by recognizing and leveraging each member's unique strengths, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, and providing the individualized support each person needs to succeed
- Mentor team members with varying levels of experience
- Deliver internal customer service with a focus on clarity and responsiveness
- Any other responsibilities directed by their manager
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:
- 5 to 7 years of experience, of which at least two (2) must be leading the accounting function
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or related field
- Accounting designation (CPA)
- Experience leading a small team, with varying levels of experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting software programs, prior knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Emburse Professional, or EBiz will be an asset.
- Understanding of best practices with respect to budget preparation and financial management
- Strong knowledge of federal tax laws, HST and payroll taxes, and guidelines for nonprofit organizations
- Excellent internal customer service approach and attention to detail
