Summary

Under the direction of the Director, Assistant Controller, the Manager, Corporate Accounting is primarily responsible managing the staff of the Accounting Services Team, which includes oversight of the monthly closing processes and well as designing, implementing and maintaining effective internal controls within the department. Manages the corporate accounting functions and ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. The Manager, Corporate Accounting will develop and manage a team that maintains the integrity of financial data, manages accounting processes, and participates in the preparation of financial statements.

Experience

Five to seven years of industry experience required. Extensive experience with core accounting processes within an integrated operating/accounting environment. Working knowledge of intercompany accounting in a multi-entity system, consolidation, accounting due diligence, and the establishment of practical internal accounting controls required. Be an independent thinker with a proven ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Leadership and performance management skill with an ability to coach and develop others in a high-performance environment. Possess the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and Oracle ERP products.

Education
Bachelor's Degree required with a preferred emphasis in accounting, finance, economics or related field of study from an accredited four-year college.

Essential Functions
  1. Directly supervises the team members of the Accounting Services Team (Accounts I and II). Recruit and manages the development of team members by providing guidance, training, and support to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  2. Manage month end close and accounting control procedures related to corporate functions including fund balance, leases, debt, investments, cash, miscellaneous cash, fixed assets, and insurance.
  3. Manage the consolidated close and financial reporting process, including setting the close calendar, monitoring status, and coordinating with cross functional teams to address and resolve matters impacting the close. Compile and review consolidated financial and statistical reporting for The Guthrie Clinic.
  4. Preparation and review of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  5. Partner with Treasury in support of covenant compliance calculations and rating agency reporting.
  6. Manage the coordination of internal and external audit support in areas of responsibility.
  7. Drive balance sheet integrity via monthly balance sheet review, tracking of reconciliation completion, encouraging balance sheet literacy. Maintain the risk matrix associated with the chart of accounts as well as continuously monitor the matrix of responsibilities related the chart of accounts.
  8. Train accounting staff on proper application of GAAP with preparing accounting reconciliations and journal entries to ensure conformity.
  9. Collaborate with Assistant Controller to develop and execute trainings and education on relevant accounting policy & procedures across the organization.
  10. Identify opportunities to drive operational excellence process improvement in accounting, monthly close, and reporting processes.
  11. Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
