Job Description

AZZ has an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Corporate Accounting at our Fort Worth Texas corporate office. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting, you are responsible for executing the company's accounting operations and financial accounting processes. You will work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, applicable regulations, and company policies. You have strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and enjoy providing working mentorship to a rapidly growing team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring AZZ's financial statements are prepared in compliance with U.S. GAAP, including proper assessment of new or changing business activities to ensure ongoing compliance. For complex and/or material activities, obtain guidance from Technical Accounting and implement procedures and controls accordingly.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 (SOX). Responsible for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the control environment and making recommendations for improvement. Must work collaboratively with Internal Audit and the segment finance teams to reach alignment on control improvements.
  • Responsible for maintaining balance sheet and income statement account structure in Oracle, including approval of new accounts or changes in classification of activity to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for preparing balance sheets and income statements that are complete, accurate and timely. Responsibilities include ensuring proper classification of balance sheet activity, ensuring proper accruals, and evaluation of assets as valid and collectible. Includes ongoing review of balance sheet activity and establishing controls to ensure ongoing compliance. Also includes proper classification of income statement activity, including cost center and account.
  • Responsible for completeness and accuracy of account reconciliations, including FX impacts and intercompany activities. Includes establishing proper reports for account reconciliation process and continuous improvement of reports and procedures to resolve discrepancies.
  • Responsible for accurate & timely preparation of rollforward report for each balance sheet account or group of accounts. Reports must clearly identify cash vs non-cash activity and identify new or changed activity for the month, quarter, and year-to-date periods. Reports must be complete and made available to Financial Reporting for accurate and timely preparation of the Cash Flow Statement. Includes leadership oversight, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for oversight and/or preparation of balance sheet and income statement reports and analysis reporting for the purpose of identifying errors, new activities, or anomalies in the financial results. Reports will include monthly trending of expenses, tracking of significant and/or unusual items, balance sheet changes since year-end, and any other reports or analysis that are needed to ensure the accounting ledger will close on-time and without error. Includes leadership oversight, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for drafting and maintaining accounting procedures and controls to ensure ongoing compliance with established accounting policies.
  • Responsible for tracking passed adjustments to the financial statements, including timely and accurate resolution and inclusion in the financial statements.
  • Responsible for effective communication, both written and oral, across the organization (up, down, and across) as to business issues and proper accounting treatment.
  • Manage, hire, develop, and motivate a high-performing accounting team, providing direction and guidance to enhance their skills and drive results.
  • Proactively and continuously seek out areas to improve processes and gain efficiencies.
  • Seeks accountability for assigned responsibilities in functional area.


Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field required
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, especially Oracle (EPBCS, FCCS, Service Management, Strategic Modeling, Financials), and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience in Public financial organizations preferred; Previous accounting experience in manufacturing or project-based job costing experience a plus
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 10%.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance or related field is preferred
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred, or CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or other relevant certification a plus
