With a demonstrated background in content protection, this Manager will have meaningful and substantial experience working on anti-piracy initiatives and implementing an effective take down program, including hands-on use of tools on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.  We are looking for someone who is business-oriented, able to think outside the box, and comfortable with challenging long-standing assumptions about how to manage IP.  They will be highly organized, self-motivated, quick-thinking, flexible, technology-oriented, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities with an unwavering attention to detail.  This is a fast-paced role that requires strong business acumen, curiosity, and significant initiative.

In this role, you will work closely with members of the Global Content Protection team, review materials for fair use, engage in the takedown process through DMCA notices and other analogous legal routes, and collaborate with internal and external partners to implement our content protection strategy.

This role will play an important part in the team’s overall objective to minimize piracy’s impact on our growth. The ideal candidate will leverage intelligence gathered from enforcement activity and their subject‑matter expertise to help inform and optimize an effective content protection strategy.

This role reports to the Director, Content Protection, Intellectual Property, and is located in Los Angeles, California.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working alongside the Global Content Protection team to protect local, regional, and global content against piracy.

  • Collaborating and strategizing with UCAN/LATAM business, content, and marketing teams as it pertains to title-level protection and enforcement measures.

  • Supporting our broader industry enforcement & litigation efforts through intelligence gathering and operationalization, including contributing to industry groups and liaising  with external partners on enforcement strategy.

  • Assisting with investigations and enforcement escalations, such as those around the unauthorized distribution of sensitive or pre-release content, in partnership with our internal security teams.

  • Monitoring, tracking, and analyzing piracy landscape data to inform internal evaluation and decision‑making.

  • Presenting our content protection strategy and insights to our cross‑functional partners, translating technical piracy data and metrics into clear, actionable recommendations, and guidance.

  • Working with internal business, creative, legal, and policy teams to develop improvements in knowledge sharing.

  • Developing expertise and relationships to effectively support company-specific strategies or priorities.

  • Supporting and advancing our strategy to build and maintain the legal toolkit that safeguards Netflix content.

  • Coordinating with vendors to handle takedown requests, managing operations of existing vendor programs, leading scheduled meetings, auditing third-party vendors, and evaluating and implementing new vendor programs, as needed.

  • Maintaining flexibility and openness to take on additional projects as necessary.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in a global content protection program, ideally within a media or entertainment company.

  • Solid understanding of IP law, including copyright, trademark, and unfair competition.

  • Knowledge of the global piracy landscape, as it relates to content protection, copyright laws and regulations, and intermediary strategies.

  • Hands-on experience using content protection tools on platforms, and making judgment calls on enforcing against unauthorized uses of IP.

  • Proven ability to generate practical insights from data and translate it into an effective enforcement strategy.

  • Experience collaborating with a broad set of cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight time frames.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess, prioritize, and respond to urgent matters.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus.
