Department 10281 Pharmacy Admin Pay Range $125,049.60 - $208,436.80 The Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services leads and oversees inpatient clinical pharmacy services, ensuring safe, effective, evidence-based medication use and optimal patient outcomes. This role provides leadership for clinical pharmacy operations, formulary management, medication safety, opioid stewardship, quality improvement, and staff development while partnering with interdisciplinary leaders to advance strategic clinical initiatives and expand the value of pharmacy services throughout the organization. About the Role: The Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services will develop, plan, implement, direct, and evaluate activities, resources, for Pharmacy Clinical programs and services. Will be responsible for the overall direction as well as clinical and operational success in accordance with national standards and Children's National policies and procedures. Familiar with department budget and interpersonal communication. Functional Accountabilities Organizational Performance 3 Plan, implement, direct, and evaluate assigned department on a strategic and operational level to ensure CNMC's move to a "Top 5" organization and an Employer of Choice. 3 Monitor department processes and seek opportunities to improve operations. 3 Implement strategic plan through management of clinical operations of the department. 3 Ensure compliance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and regulatory standards. 3 Attend organization-wide multi-disciplinary clinical meetings as Pharmacy rep. 3 See the potential in and understand the use of administrative and clinical information resources and decision-support tools in process and performance improvement. 3 Proficient to compile and analyze data to support upper management decision-making. 3 Supervise Residency Program director and provide direction and assistance as needed. 3 Coordinate the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes and critical pathways as approved by appropriate committees as evidenced by meeting minutes. 3 Represent the Department of Pharmacy Services (along with the Chief) on the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee (a.k.a., P&T Committee); serve as the clinical drug expert for the Committee. 3 Coordinate the medication usage evaluation process for the hospital and coordinate presentation to the P&T. 3 Work with the Chief of Pharmacy Services and the Medical Staff to establish drug policy and develop means to enforce such policy. 3 Develop programs and methods to document the benefit of pharmacist interventions (both in improving patient care and financially) to support, defend and justify pharmacy services. 3 Develop clinical roles, programs and services that are achievable by pharmacists. 3 Serve as Department Manager-on-Call. 3 Serve as backup to IDS manager. Financial 3 Identify programs and areas for cost reduction; specifically target drugs and therapeutic regimens that can be changed through pharmacy intervention to reduce cost; prepare methodology of program, obtain approval, and facilitate implementation of such programs. 3 Contribute to development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets. 3 Assist Chief to evaluate performance reports and budget variances and develop action plans. 3 Implements actions to facilitate meeting budget requirements. Clinical Services 3 Maintain an active clinical practice; serve as a clinical specialist resource for pharmacists, nurses and physicians. 3 Develop and oversee clinical initiatives performed by the Pharmacy Clinical Specialists and unit-based pharmacists. 3 Act as a pharmacy liaison to support and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and pathways for the Hospital and the Department. 3 Set criteria and select clinical pharmacists for eligibility to staff as unit based pharmacists. 3 Serve as the Clinical Pharmacy liaison member of the Medication Safety Team. 3 Assist the Chief to establish the strategic plan for department services, include short- and long-term objectives. 3 Collect and analyze feedback on service/department effectiveness. 3 Assist the Chief to incorporate findings into plans to modify program/service delivery. The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual's combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications.
