What you will accomplish in this role

The Clinical Implementation Manager is a corporate-level management position that provides operational leadership in the planning, implementation, adoption, optimization, and sustainment of enterprise clinical technologies that impact divisions and facilities across HCA Healthcare. The position requires an in-depth understanding of prioritized clinical products, their capabilities and limitations, clinician and provider workflows, organizational readiness, and the impact of technology on clinical practice.

This role serves as the primary clinical implementation leader and partners closely with Product Management, Clinical Education, Change Management, Communications, Clinical Informatics, Information Technology Group (ITG), Analytics, Project Management, and facility leadership to ensure successful technology deployment, clinician adoption, workflow integration, and continuous improvement.

The Clinical Implementation Manager is responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Clinical Implementation professionals while serving as a strategic advisor for enterprise digital transformation initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical subject-matter expert for facilities and divisions during the planning and implementation of prioritized clinical applications which may include electronic health record clinician workflow, clinical decision support, documentation, clinician communication, operational support systems, etc.
  • Manage, mentor, grow, and support team of direct reports on the Clinical Implementation team
  • Provide coordination and support and serve as a consultant to the facility and division teams (clinicians, ITG, HIM) implementing clinical applications
  • Manage issue gathering/definition, fact finding and resolution process for the implementation teams
  • Set priorities for team tasks and activities
  • Ensures communication between the project teams, the clinicians, and all of the affected departments during implementation
  • Partner with Communications to develop and coordinate implementation communication strategies, executive messaging, clinician updates, deployment communications, and post-go-live communications
  • Exhibit fiscal responsibility by effectively managing project budgets
  • Facilitate effective communications among all team members to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations, and requirements
  • Facilitate collaboration across Product Management, Clinical Education, Change Management, Communications, Clinical Informatics, Analytics, ITG, PMO, vendors, and operational leadership throughout the implementation lifecycle
  • Manage and conduct initial orientation at the facility level, organize and manage the clinical component of clinical application implementations at the facility level, work in close coordination with CNOs, CMOs, and any facility leadership as needed
  • Partner with Clinical Education, vendors, and internal stakeholders to develop, validate, and continuously improve role-based education, train-the-trainer programs, competency validation, and implementation learning resources
  • Partner with Clinical Education to evaluate the effectiveness of education strategies, learner readiness, competency outcomes, and post-implementation learning needs
  • Evaluate clinical systems to identify functional gaps and research potential solutions
  • Partner with Product Management, Clinical Informatics, ITG, and operational stakeholders to define clinical requirements, provide workflow expertise, validate product functionality, prioritize enhancement opportunities, and support the enterprise product lifecycle
  • Collaborate with project management and other entities to assist in managing multiple, large-scale implementations
  • Participate in enterprise governance forums and cross-functional planning meetings representing Clinical Implementation, operational readiness, and clinician adoption perspectives
  • Partner with Analytics, Product Management, and operational stakeholders to establish implementation success measures, including adoption, utilization, clinician satisfaction, workflow efficiency, operational performance, and outcome metrics
  • Partner with Change Management and Project Management to develop organizational readiness assessments, stakeholder engagement plans, and implementation readiness criteria for enterprise deployments
  • Conduct organizational readiness assessments, analyze results, identify implementation risks, and recommend mitigation strategies in partnership with operational and change leadership
  • Support evaluations of organizational support structures at the division or facility level (e.g. Physician Advisory Councils) and recommend changes necessary to support project rollouts
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical professionals and other stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Build collaborative partnerships with Product Management, Clinical Education, Change Management, Communications, Clinical Informatics, Analytics, PMO, division leadership, and facility leadership to support enterprise technology adoption and sustainment
  • Proactively identify and resolve program-level issues; Work on an as-needed basis with facilities that have hardships and opportunities for improvement
  • Lead post-implementation reviews with cross-functional stakeholders to identify lessons learned, prioritize optimization opportunities, and continuously improve implementation methodologies
  • Serve as a leader and manager of a highly skilled clinical team that is remotely located


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, but Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in related clinical and / or implementation experience with additional organizational or project leadership experience required
  • 7+ years of experience in healthcare implementations preferred
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in management work experience preferred
  • Active/current Registered Nurse license required as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation
  • Significant expertise in managing clinical implementation of technologies across multiple facilities is required
  • Ability to travel, work remotely in a home office environment, or in a facility required
  • This role may require 76% or more travel
