Manager, Career DevelopmentYour OpportunityThe Manager, Career Development oversees the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of career education services that empower students to build career competencies, pursue experiential learning opportunities, and achieve meaningful career outcomes.
The Manager oversees the Career Development team and collaborates with both internal departments and students to ensure the delivery of high-quality programming, student experience and resources that are aligned with student goals and institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight to team members by setting clear expectations, delegating responsibilities, fostering accountability, and ensuring team activities align with Huron's mission, values, culture, and strategic priorities.
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of student-focused career development programs and services that align with and support departmental and university goals.
- Promote and support the delivery of high-quality, student-centered advising, coaching, and programming with an objective to improve the student experience.
- Oversee career development services and projects ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budget requirements are met.
- Provide oversight of departmental performance reporting, including operational, financial, and student experience metrics, using data and insights to inform decision-making, evaluate effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage departmental financial resources, including budget development, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting, in alignment with strategic and operational priorities.
- Oversee departmental communications and ensure consistent and professional representation to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee scheduling, workflow management, and compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Support and deliver program presentations and participate in student and employer meetings, as required.
- Ensure alignment of team activities with Huron's mission, vision, culture, values and strategic priorities.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a relevant role.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience building and motivating teams to achieve collective goals.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to represent Huron effectively in all interactions.
- Demonstrated experience in program design, project management, and evidence-informed career development practices, particularly in a post-secondary context.
- Strong understanding of job markets, occupational trends, career pathways, and graduate education requirements relevant to student's career aspirations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries with professionalism, diplomacy, and tact.
- Strong analytical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills; able to work collaboratively to identify solutions and address underlying issues.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities that support the management of multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and committed to identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitivity, creativity, innovation, and cultural understanding.
Compensation: This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary commensurate with experience: $85,000 - $93,000
