Position Summary
Centennial College is hiring a strategic and operational leader to join the Data, Analytics and Research Office (DARO). Reporting to the Director, Data, Analytics and Research Office, the Manager, Business Intelligence will lead the development and delivery of BI solutions including, dashboards, reporting tools, self-service analytics, data quality practices, and stakeholder training to support evidence-informed decision-making across the College.

The Manager will oversee BI priorities, deliverables, and staff, while working closely with internal stakeholders, IT, and academic and operational partners to deliver practical reporting, analytics, and dashboard solutions that align with institutional goals. The role will also support DARO's operational continuity, data governance, and reporting efficiency while advancing the College's use of analytics for planning, accountability, and continuous improvements. The Manager will also promote inclusive and responsible data practices by ensuring BI solutions are accessible, ethical, and responsive to the needs of Centennial's diverse community.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic direction, planning, and ongoing development of DARO's business intelligence function in alignment with College priorities.
  • Manage the BI stream, including work planning, prioritization, assignment of deliverables, performance monitoring, coaching, and staff development.
  • Develop and maintain BI tools, dashboards, reporting products, and self-service analytics, while implementing processes, standards, and best practices to ensure consistent, quality and sustainable products.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify business requirements, understand operational and strategic reporting needs, and translate those needs into effective BI solutions.
  • Support data-informed decision-making by ensuring BI products provide timely, accurate, accessible, and actionable insights for academic, operational, and executive users.
  • Support data governance, privacy, data quality, and compliance practices within BI operations, including appropriate documentation, validation, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with IT, data stewards, academic areas, operational leaders, and other institutional partners to support integrated reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Lead or support BI-related modernization initiatives, including automation, dashboard optimization, self-service reporting, AI-enabled analytics, and process improvement.
  • Monitor BI usage, adoption, performance, service effectiveness, and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide training, onboarding, guidance, and support to stakeholders to improve data literacy and effective use of BI tools.
  • Support operational continuity across DARO by coordinating day-to-day BI priorities during peak reporting cycles, Director absences, and cross-functional delivery periods.
  • Prepare and present reports, briefings, recommendations, and updates for internal stakeholders and leadership as required.
  • Represent DARO on internal or sector-related committees, working groups, and initiatives related to BI, analytics, reporting, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Manage BI-related resources, timelines, vendor or system relationships, and operational requirements to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Experience
  • Post-graduate degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, dashboard development, data governance, or a related field.
  • Experience in a post-secondary, public-sector, or similarly complex multi-stakeholder environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading BI initiatives, analytics projects, reporting modernization, dashboard development, data modelling, and self-service data tools.
  • Experience providing direction, guidance, coaching, supervision, or work coordination to staff, students, project teams, or technical resources.
  • Advanced experience with Power BI or similar BI platforms, data visualization, dashboard development, SQL, data modelling, relational databases, and reporting platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, privacy, compliance, accessibility, responsible data use, and risk mitigation in BI and analytics environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data, technical issues, and analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders, academic partners, operational teams, and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management, prioritization, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior communication, presentation, consultation, and relationship management skills, including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and Indigenous ways of knowing, with the ability to apply these principles to data governance, dashboard design, reporting practices, stakeholder engagement, and responsible use of institutional data.
  • Knowledge of Ontario post-secondary data, reporting, ministry accountability, enrolment, student success, or institutional research environments is considered an asset.
  • Power BI certification, such as PL-300, or equivalent BI/data analytics certification is considered an asset.
