Position: Manager, Automation Engineering
Job Location: 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716
Duties: Explains operational functions and key functional roles of assigned department or unit. Clarifies the role of each department or unit and its relevance to the enterprise strategy. Describes the interdependence of support functions and line operating functions. Identifies the primary operational functions of the organization. Leverages data analysis tools to explore moderately complex data, develops and tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds and presents insights. Identifies, implements, and drives technology change within scope of work. Uses visualization tools to represent data and construct coherent stories to influence decisions. Owns the delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others. Supports process updates and changes. Demonstrates functional knowledge of the business unit/organization being supported. Organizes thoughts and communicates confidently, credibly, and concisely within scope of work. Utilizes relevant data and fact based information to articulate results and provide recommendations in a structured manner. Actively listens to others, seeks and provides constructive feedback, and provides ideas/recommendations on processes. Proactively builds a personal network. Updates existing CAD drawings based on requirements. Describes common drafting conventions, tools, procedures, and processes. Identifies basic functions and features of a design and visualization system. Navigates and troubleshoots control systems. Identifies electrical design concepts and techniques used in a supply chain. Cites examples of usage or application of electrical design in automating supply chain processes. Demonstrates knowledge of wiring schematics, ensuring they meet requirements and are compliant. Describes common mechanical components of Distribution Center and Fulfillment Center equipment. Names basic tools or technologies used in mechanical engineering. Identifies the areas for usage of automation machineries. Assesses tasks for automation potential. Obtains information about alternative automation solutions. Assists with analyzing space and cost requirements associated with machinery usage. Identifies issues and provides resolutions to problems related to automation machineries. Interprets information to quantify the anticipated outcome of supply chain decisions. Describes the typical tasks associated with using and managing suppliers. Understands issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics. Describes basic logistical processes and subprocesses. Uses a variety of business process design tools and techniques. Examines, interprets, and explains workflow materials and documentation. Analyzes a process and associated business logic and offers recommendations based on analysis. Carries out business process design tasks with some supervision and coaching. Documents common obstacles and barriers for effective implementation. Produces standard project status reports. Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project. Assists in detailed project plans, including costs, schedules, and resource requirements. Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalents to track project progress and status. Identifies common issues and considerations for bringing a new automation design to a facility. Documents implementation plans and estimates for projects. Participates in the development of technology interfaces and bridges. Works with existing interfaces and integration and migration plans within assigned area. Prepares integration tests. Measures and compares results with established test criteria. Demonstrates the ability to describe the interrelationships among elements of a system or process. Applies the concept of continuous improvement. Describes the concepts behind engineering economics and the implications of financial data. This position does not supervise employees.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Engineering (any) or related field; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area.
Skills required: Experience building queries in SQL to pull data for analysis. Experience designing supply chain process flows. Experience executing data analysis and creating data visualizations. Experience with Supply Chain Automations to build concept designs based on SKU profiles. Experience using MS Excel and Tableau to build models and visualization tools. Experience using Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma in Distribution Centers (DC) to improve operational efficiency. Experience calculating IRR and ROI. Experience with make or buy decisions for procurement. Experience developing test cases, hypothesis, and technology using Excel tools. Experience with Project Management using Critical Path Method. Experience designing inventory systems and stocking strategies to design warehouses. Rate of pay: $90,000.00 - 180,000.00/year
