Full Job Description

The Ambulatory Manager serves as the leader for the orthopedic service line's daily ambulatory clinical operations, providing oversight of multiple clinic locations and a large, regionally dispersed workforce in support of Children's Wisconsin orthopedic patients, providers, and staff.

This role manages the activities, operations, and performance of ambulatory orthopedic clinics across the region and supervises clinic personnel and leadership staff. Provides operational leadership for a large, geographically dispersed team supporting orthopedic services and serves as a key partner to physician, clinical, and administrative leaders to ensure high-quality, efficient, patient-centered care.

Acts as a liaison between the  Ambulatory Services team, Orthopedic Service Line team, and other departments providing care and services across the organization. Leads strategic and operational initiatives to support growth, standardization, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, workforce engagement, and financial performance within the orthopedic ambulatory service line. Markets and promotes orthopedic clinic services provided by Children's Wisconsin and identifies opportunities to enhance access, operational efficiency, and patient experience.

This is an in-person leadership position that requires a visible presence within assigned clinic locations and regular travel throughout the region to support clinic operations, providers, staff, and organizational priorities.

  • Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required or within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent knowledge) in healthcare or related business field required.
  • Two years of outpatient clinical or similar experience.
  • Two years formal leadership experience required.
  • Good organizational and patient relation skills. 
  • High level of communication skills necessary for assessment of patient and family concerns and processing referrals for appropriate medical care.
  • Ability to read, interpret and enact policies and procedures.
  • Ability to stand and walk approximately 75% of the work time.
  • Advanced analytical and decision making skills necessary to resolve employee and operational problems and assist in the development of departmental budgets and operational planning.

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council
