Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic self-starter who can think Out of the Box to join our team as an Operations Manager for our on-site role in Calgary. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing office and laboratory operations and also ensure that safety, quality, and service standards are met. The Operations Manager supports operational efficiency, budget management, and a safe work environment in alignment with company goals.

What you will be doing:

1. Operational Leadership
  • Manage laboratory operations to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and service standards, including turnaround time (TAT) targets.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities, promoting adherence to company policies and fostering a professional work environment.
  • Maintain compliance with established safety protocols, supporting a safe and efficient laboratory and office environment.
  • Responsible for area budget, forecasting and financial performance while achieving agreed upon annual goals.
2. Client Relations and Communication
  • Build and maintain relationships with major current and potential clients, addressing client needs and inquiries promptly.
  • Serve as a point of contact for laboratory and client issues, ensuring effective communication through regular meetings and formal channels.
  • Facilitate open communication between laboratory staff and management, supporting teamwork and clarity on operational goals.
3. Financial Oversight
  • Ensure laboratory operations are within budget, submitting relevant financial documents to head office as required.
  • Contribute to cost-effective and profitable operations through efficient resource management and process improvements.
  • Monitor and control expenses, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and company guidelines.
4. Team Leadership and Development
  • Maintain optimal staffing levels to meet operational demands, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to supervisors and team members, encouraging continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance reviews in collaboration with direct reports, aligning goals with company standards and expectations.
