SUMMARY:
The person in this position supervises effective and timely monthly US GAAP financial close and internal reporting, including the consolidation, preparation, and analysis of financial statements for assigned regions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and enhance greater interaction with accounting operations in assigned regions
• Execute and/or manage specific areas of accounting as assigned (e.g., capital reporting)
• Interface with cash management on general ledger activities
• Support the company's external reporting processes, including the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the consolidated financial statements and other requests for services performed by the company's external auditors
• Continually assess effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations, identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement as well as establishing and evaluating appropriate observable metrics
• Support the company's mergers-and-acquisitions activities, including participating in due diligence activities and ensuring effective integration of accounting processes
• Support internal audit activities within sphere of influence
• Supervise and train assigned staff
• Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Transportation industry experience, particularly railroad, preferred
• Good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or MBA preferred
• A minimum of seven to ten years of related experience; US public-company experience preferred
