Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations Accounting, the Management Controller supports the plants. This role acts as the guardian of best practices in the analysis and control of costs related to operations, supervises a team, and supports the internal management team in understanding variances and various business issues, while also supporting period-end financial accounting activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise, train, and prioritize the tasks of the accounting analyst team;
  • Support the Director of Operations Accounting on special projects, as opportunities arise;
  • Act as the internal reference for operations accounting and as a resource person for the management team;
  • Participate in month-end and year-end procedures in support of financial statement preparation;
  • Review cost prices for existing and new products, requests, and projects, and assess their impact on the organization's profit margins;
  • Analyze the costs of various investment projects and assess their financial return;
  • Analyze and explain, with the support of the team, the plants' financial performance on a monthly basis;
  • Supervise and actively participate in the plants' budgeting process;
  • Implement tools, management reports, and relevant performance indicators (KPIs) to provide useful information to internal managers;
  • Ensure data integrity, including the accuracy of inventory stock levels, both internally and in external warehouses, and the compliance of data in the IT system;
  • Identify profitability opportunities for the plants, strengthen internal controls and procedures within the sector, contribute to continuous process improvement, and collaborate on external auditor requests as needed;
  • Perform any other related duties.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a CPA designation;
  • Five to eight years of experience in a similar role, including people management experience;
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and experience with financial close processes, an asset;
  • Strong computer skills, including the Office Suite and Excel; knowledge of SAP is a significant asset;
  • Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop, coach, and mobilize a team;
  • Initiative, strong financial judgment, and the ability to make decisions, including difficult ones;
  • Strong rigor and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and solve problems;
  • Dynamic, autonomous, and results-oriented;
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, an asset.
