Position Information
The City of Brentwood is seeking a motivated, professional Management Analyst I to join the Public Works Department. This position will play a key role in supporting and advancing a wide range of complex programs, projects, and initiatives within the department. Assigned to Public Works Department, the Management Analyst will primarily support the Water Division and Solid Waste Division in areas such as regulatory compliance, operational evaluation, rate studies, and program development.

Key responsibilities include assisting with implementation and oversight of SB 606 and SB 1383 requirements, preparing comprehensive reports and data analyses, conducting program evaluations, public outreach, and infrastructure needs assessments, and developing recommendations to improve operational efficiency, communication, and community outreach. The Management Analyst will also be responsible for presenting findings, updates, and program results to City leadership and the City Council.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Guidelines -
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, finance, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years' experience in administrative and management analysis.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Depending on assignment, possession of a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record must be maintained throughout employment.

  • Written Exam - Those candidates identified as best qualified will be invited to take a written test. The exam will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description and is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 21, 2026.
Eligible List: All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
