The role:

Join us as the maintenance technology program manager, where you will identify our statewide maintenance-related technology initiatives. You will plan, develop, implement and manage our strategy and policies for the use of automated vehicle location (AVL)/Telematics for winter maintenance as well as other section initiatives. In this role, you will aid in improving public and employee safety and resource optimization using technology. Apply today!

This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before December 31, 2027. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. This position has the potential to become permanent.

A day in the life:
  • Develop implementation strategies for the adoption of technologies in highway maintenance, including automated vehicle location (AVL)/Telematics, Survey123 based GIS applications, and Maintenance Management Systems (MMS).
  • Review business needs, quality management, improvement tools and legislative requirements related to the purchase, operation, maintenance and ongoing use of technology.
  • Oversee the AVL/Telematics program, implement work plans, monitor results, identify and initiate corrective action as needed to meet program goals and needs.
  • Oversee statewide project team activities to develop and implement AVL/Telematics infrastructure and related strategic plans, goals and needs.
  • Establish project scope and objectives, maintain project schedule, establish and maintain project budget, develop risk management plans and develop and implement communication strategies.
  • Travel to various field locations to meet with managers, technicians and field staff to review equipment installation and field conditions.
  • Research current trends in technology related to agency operations and formulate policies, processes and suggest legislative changes to support philosophy or changes in practice.
  • Translating technology questions for maintenance staff and maintenance needs to technical staff.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification;

OR

A bachelor's degree in business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, finance, political science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work

Special qualifications:
