Job Overview
Boart Longyear is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician (Millwright - 433A) to support equipment reliability and production uptime in a unionized manufacturing environment.

This role is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, with a strong focus on mechanical systems, hydraulics, alignment, and precision maintenance. The Millwright will play a critical role in minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Rate: $38.50/hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including conveyors, presses, CNC equipment, and automated systems
  • Execute precision alignment, leveling, and calibration of machinery (e.g., shafts, bearings, gearboxes)
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble industrial equipment, replacing worn or defective components
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and repairs
  • Support installation, commissioning, and relocation of equipment as required
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions in a timely manner
  • Apply and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) and all safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection logs
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and other trades to improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Key Skills & Competencies
  • Mechanical Expertise: Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, bearings, lubrication systems, and mechanical drives
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose complex equipment failures and perform root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Precision Maintenance: Skilled in alignment, tolerances, and vibration awareness
  • Preventive Maintenance: Experience with PM programs and reliability practices
  • Safety Compliance: Strong adherence to safety standards, including LOTO and safe work practices
  • Documentation: Accurate and timely completion of maintenance records
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a unionized, cross-functional environment
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting

Qualifications
Education & Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Millwright License (433A Industrial Mechanic) required
Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CNC machinery, automated systems, or heavy industrial equipment is an asset

  • Work Environment: Manufacturing shop floor
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks (standing, bending, climbing, working in confined spaces as required)
