ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Department of Real Property Management is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Maintenance Supervisor position. This position will plan, supervise, direct, review, and evaluate the work of semi-skilled, skilled and support staff in the maintenance and repair of County buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing team direction to a variety of maintenance staff while assisting in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the buildings and facilities maintenance activities.
PLEASE NOTE: This position supervises crews performing maintenance, repair and construction at all facilities across Clark County which could include detention facilities, court facilities, family/youth/recreation facilities, rural locations, coroner's office and morgue, and campus locations. This position could also be subject to shift work that includes nights, evenings, and weekends.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by some technical or college level course work in business or a field related to the work AND four (4) years of full-time journey level experience in facilities maintenance/construction. Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions: Attend meetings outside of normal working hours. Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations. Work with exposure to heavy traffic.

Licensing and Certification: Possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment. Some positions may require a Nevada Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Plans, schedules, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of multiple crews of semi-skilled maintenance and technical and support staff in multiple maintenance/craft areas.
  • Recommends selection of staff; trains staff in work procedures; administers discipline as required.
  • Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the buildings and facilities maintenance activities.
  • Directs and oversees contract and warranty work.
  • Performs skilled work in the designated area(s) of expertise, troubleshoots maintenance problems and provides technical advice to assigned staff.
  • Estimates equipment, materials and staff required to perform assigned work; requisitions supplies and equipment and maintains an inventory of regularly used materials.
  • Prepares, issues, prioritizes and tracks facility, road, flood control, bridge, sidewalk and equipment maintenance and repair work orders; maintains accurate records of work performed.
  • Resolves questions and complaints from the public; provides information regarding projects and schedules.
  • Maintains liaison and coordinates activities with those of other County departments and local agencies.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, manuals and related documentation.
  • Responds to and resolves County staff inquiries and complaints.
  • Inspects the work and ensures quality and conformance to specifications of both County crews and contract staff.
  • Prepares a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed.
  • Ensures that staff follows safety procedures and that public safety and security procedures are followed; conducts staff safety meetings.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a motor vehicle to conduct work site inspections.
