Full Job Description
We are looking for a MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT to join our Calera, AL plant. As a Maintenance Superintendent with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials you will be responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all maintenance activities within the cement plant to ensure maximum equipment availability, reliability, safety, and cost efficiency. The role oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

About the Role

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
  • Ensure high equipment reliability and minimize downtime through effective maintenance planning.
  • Lead maintenance activities for crushers, raw mills, kilns, coolers, cement mills, conveyors, packing plants, and utility systems.
  • Manage maintenance shutdowns, annual overhauls, and emergency repairs.
  • Monitor equipment performance using reliability and condition monitoring techniques.
  • Prepare maintenance budgets and control maintenance costs.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, engineering, and warehouse departments to achieve operational targets.
  • Supervise and develop maintenance engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Improve maintenance processes through continuous improvement initiatives and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as SAP PM, Maximo, or similar software.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and prepare monthly performance reports.
  • Support capital improvement and plant modernization projects.

About You

We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional certifications in maintenance or reliability (CMRP, PMP, or equivalent) are an advantage.
  • 10-15 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • At least 5 years in a maintenance leadership role within a cement, mining, steel, power, or heavy manufacturing plant.
  • Strong knowledge of cement manufacturing equipment and maintenance practices.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
