Idaho National Laboratory Business Management organization is seeking a Maintenance Scheduler.

You will develop, prepare, and integrate computerized (P6) schedules in support of customer operations and/or production activities.

This position works a 9x80 hour schedule with every other Friday off, onsite in our offices at the Research and Education Complex in Idaho Falls!

You will report to the PMO Scheduling Manager.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develop schedules for day-to-day maintenance or work activities and analyze daily work schedules to optimize resource management and labor usage.
  • Track and report on schedule progress. Support critical activities by assisting in resolving resource priority conflicts.
  • Develop and maintain various schedule reports, document schedule problems, and provide recommendations, as appropriate, for achieving successful maintenance and operational activities.
  • Input and maintain maintenance activities (e.g., Corrective Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, Routines, Training, PL, etc.) into P6.
  • Support the scheduling process, primarily the POW/POD by integrating varying facility scope, analyzing/resolving resource demands and providing corresponding performance information to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide scheduling guidance and direction to supporting customers and managers. Manage multiple scheduling tasks.
  • Maintain and support processes in support of resource management for Maintenance and Operations personnel work activities.
  • Integrate various work activities including compliance level facility activities requiring plant resources and perform resource analysis in support of execution.
  • Ensure work activities are represented on the appropriate facility schedules. Provide ad-hoc scheduling support as requested. Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical schedule data for future development of schedules.
  • Assist in resolving resource priority conflicts such that project critical path activities are supported appropriately.
  • Provide recommendations as appropriate for achieving execution of maintenance and operations activities.
  • Represent the scheduling organization as appropriate. Interact with senior personnel on significant matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Interface with operations personnel to understand resource management requirements for operations activities.
  • Provide mentorship to enhance technical/professional skills of junior scheduling staff as required.
  • Develop and maintain various schedule reports (e.g., schedules, status reports, resource reports, histograms, etc.) on a frequent basis in support of the POW/POD.
  • Evaluate schedule variances, provide guidance, and develop work around plans.
  • Maintain technical competence and proficiency associated with current scheduling software (Primavera), principles, and other tools to include supportive scheduling and data management software (i.e. access, Excel, Word).
  • Maintain familiarity associated with scheduling need of the Computer Management Maintenance System database (Asset Suite).
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing scheduling adherence and other quality data to be used for continuous quality improvement within the Plant Scheduling work process.

Minimum Requirements:

Level 2: Bachelor's degree +2 years scheduling or related technical experience or a Master's degree.

Level 3: Bachelor's degree +5 years scheduling or related technical experience or advanced degree +2 years of experience.

Preferred Experience:
  • AACE International (AACEi) Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification.
  • Experience using LLM-based artificial intelligence models, Power Automate, and Power BI.


Job Information:

The pay range for this position is:

Level 2 Salary grade 430 ($66,504-$136,356)- Level 3 Salary grade 440 ($79,344-$162,732).
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
  • At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
