Position Summary:

The Maintenance & Safety Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment in a 24/7 feed manufacturing facility. This position supervises and performs maintenance activities while leading safety inspections, required training, hazard correction, and compliance initiatives. The supervisor works closely with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime, maintain equipment reliability, and promote a strong safety culture.

What You'll Do:
• Supervise and perform daily maintenance activities throughout the plant.
• Schedule and manage preventive maintenance. Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.
• Train and develop maintenance employees.
• Inspect equipment and address issues before they cause downtime.
• Maintain maintenance records, work orders, equipment history, and parts inventory.
• Coordinate maintenance work with production to minimize downtime.
• Ensure tools, parts, and maintenance supplies are available and in good condition.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and capital facility projects.
• Work alongside the maintenance team as needed.
• Lead the plant safety inspection program.
• Coordinate required employee and contractor safety training and maintain records.
• Ensure compliance with LOTO, confined space, fall protection, machine guarding, electrical safety, PPE, hazard communication, hot work, and other safety programs.
• Participate in incident and near-miss investigations and follow up on corrective actions.
• Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Submit safety observations in Kianda and actively close open items.
• Encourage employees to submit safety observations in Kianda.
• Assist with OSHA and other regulatory inspections and compliance.
• Identify and implement safety improvements.

Requirements

What You'll Bring:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, food/feed, grain handling, or industrial environment preferred.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead employees while remaining actively involved in maintenance work.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices.
• Ability to conduct inspections, identify hazards, and follow corrective actions through completion.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24-hour manufacturing environment.
• Experience developing or managing preventive maintenance programs.

What Makes You a Great Fit:
• Experience with many facets of industrial operations, including welding, electrical, bearings, chains, shafts, belts, electric motors, etc.
• Mechanical knowledge of processing equipment such as mixers, screw conveyers, hammer mills, grain legs.
• OSHA safety training or related safety certification a plus.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, bend, kneel, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas when required.
• Ability to lift and carry tools, and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work around dust, noise, machinery, temperature variations, and other industrial conditions while using required PPE.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and provide support during off-shift, weekend, and emergency situations as required by a 24/7 operation.

Salary Description

$75,000 to $87,000
