Job Description:

We are seeking a highly qualified Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to join our U.S. Smokeless Tobacco processing facility in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will actively plan, schedule, coordinate, and optimize maintenance work that supports equipment reliability, production uptime, and safe execution.

You will develop work plans, align labor and contractor resources, manage maintenance backlogs, and serve as a key connection point between Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Contractors, and Production Planning.

What you will be doing:
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop weekly, monthly, and shutdown maintenance schedules. Plan preventive, predictive, corrective, refurbishment/rebuild, and project work. Create work packages with labor requirements, parts, permits, procedures, and estimated durations.
  • Work Management: Create and manage planned work orders in SAP/CMMS systems, including PM02 and PM03 work orders where applicable. Build work packages based on manpower availability and the PM master schedule. Review work order quality, ensure proper documentation, and technically complete closed work orders.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate labor, contractors, tools, equipment, materials, and spare parts required to execute scheduled work. Ensure resources are available before work execution and optimize craft utilization.
  • Backlog & Prioritization: Review maintenance backlogs and prioritize work based on business risk, equipment criticality, production needs, and maintenance readiness. Level workload across shifts and available resources.
  • Shutdown & Outage Planning: Develop detailed outage and shutdown schedules to support major maintenance activities, equipment overhauls, extended weekends, and project execution. Lead or support schedule readiness reviews with business partners.
  • Communication & Meetings: Lead or participate in planning and scheduling meetings with Operations, Maintenance Unit Leaders, Engineering, Production Planning, Staffing, Contractors, and Business Area leaders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze maintenance data to identify reliability improvement opportunities. Support preventive maintenance optimization, predictive maintenance.


What you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent industrial maintenance experience may be considered.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, reliability, planning, scheduling, or engineering-related activities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP PM, Maximo, or another CMMS platform.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex scheduling information to internal and external partners.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $132,750.00.
