Full Job Description
Basic Function

Conducts maintenance assignments and duties for the Maintenance Department under limited supervision. Increases the efficiency of the maintenance process through the creation of safe and cost-effective job plans.

Job Duties

Develop work packages for maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance plans, travel to the field to walk down jobs and document necessary steps, tools, and precautions for maintenance to properly execute the work. Ensure all work packages comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations. Create, update and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and standard job plans (Task Lists) for repeatable tasks. Review and optimize PM strategies and plans to prevent failure and reduce reactive work. Identify jobs where parts can be kitted in advance to avoid delays during execution and act as liaison with other departments for scope & procedure procurement. Maintain strong communication with maintenance supervisors and craftsmen to address any queries or concerns regarding work packages. Search for missing specs or documentation in SAP or shared drives. Follow up on part orders, or vendor lead times and quotes, ensures accuracy in all data, including equipment histories, maintenance records, and scheduling information within work orders and Preventative Maintenance Plans. Proficient operations of some or all of the following software (depending on location): Excel, Word, Outlook, assigned CMMS System like SAP. Prioritize work order backlog based on risk, readiness, and resource availability, identifies resources and cost estimates to specific job tasks and orders materials and interacts with purchasing department on bid items for material specifications and quotes. Verifies drawings and approval sign offs for in-kind equipment replacement and confirms field verification and dimensional checks on in-kind equipment replacements to verify conformance to specifications. Coordinate cross-functional input (Ops, Maintenance, Engineering, Inspectors, etc.), attend coordination or status meetings and cover maintenance Supervisor duties on a Friday, quarterly or as needed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
Perform Supervisory Relief functions as needed at assigned Plant
Identify outside contractors required for turnarounds or as required
Creates bid packages, awards bids, and executes jobs from start to finish
Plans Turnaround work-steps and procedures for assigned facilities including material, labor resources and equipment/tools
Identify the necessary tools, materials, and resources needed to complete a pre-identified task and create daily and turnaround work scopes
Ensure management is fully informed of any potential shortfalls/problems in daily assignments as needed
Assist in contractor compliance with all refinery safety and environmental regulations
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience

A minimum of seven years of job-related experience is required. Preferred Experience: Construction experience is preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Preferred Educational Level: Trade school or journeyman/craftsman training is preferred. A Bachelors Degree is preferred.

Required Skills

Knowledge of refinery operations and craft knowledge. Intermediate level leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Basic reading and writing skills and the ability to perform basic level mathematical calculations. Proven interpersonal skills. Self-starter and safety sensitive. Troubleshooting skills and ability to function effectively in a team atmosphere. Knowledge of safe work practices. Computer skills necessary to operate assigned maintenance system, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Ability to lead and train a small group of employees. Multi-tasking and team orientation skills.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Depending on location, occasional relief supervisor responsibilities of hourly maintenance employees for various foremen or may be responsible for the supervision of 12 to 15 employees. Serve as project manager for special assignments as required.

Work Conditions

Office and field based and with up to 5% by land and air require. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, and out-of-doors environment and driver-based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, electrical shock, and working in confined spaces. Periodic overtime required. Required to respond to plant-related emergencies and be available after hours during critical business situations depending on location. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 30lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 200ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted), and strenuous physical activity.
