Full Job Description
As a Maintenance Planner you will develop and communicate maintenance plans, including routine and preventive interventions, related schedules as well as resources, skills, and materials needed to maintain installations/equipment and avoid/minimize disruptions in production.

You will report to the Director of Engineering.

Location Mte Olive, New Jersey

Salary range for this position based on candidate experience 70,500 -97,000 per year.

Core Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Production Planners to obtain production schedules, identify equipment involved and plan for adequate resources, skills and materials for interventions.
  • Review plans with Maintenance managers to validate accuracy and feasibility, and consolidate these into a master plan.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain Planners as well as Logistics in order to monitor inventory of materials/equipment necessary for planned maintenance activities.
  • Calculate overall maintenance costs, including labour, material and service provider costs.
  • Collect, organize and update all information required for the maintenance teams to perform interventions e.g. technical drawings, vendor manual, instructions materials, standard and special procedures, etc.
  • Identify deviations and document/communicate them in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Classify, sort and distribute work requests as necessary depending on class, such as emergency, safety, GMP, shutdown required, reliability, engineering, as well as priority status.
  • Administer work orders and related requests such as Bill of Material, special kitting instructions and vendor services (i.e. contract vibration service, rigging service, required license service).
  • Monitor and report on maintenance activities and related costs versus plan(s) and budgets.
  • Keep accurate metrics on the progress of maintenance plans and provide timely reports to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain and update the status of work control and backlog for work request submissions.
  • Maintain and provide all necessary documents for audit requirements.
  • Support the resolution of key production problems.
  • Participate in lean activities.
  • Work in accordance with all relevant requirements including, but not limited to ATEX,GMP, AIB, OSHA, HACCP, FDA, USDA and internal safety guidelines
  • May perform other tasks as assigned.


Academic Background

  • Vocational diploma in Technical engineering or related discipline (pre-university level).
  • Certification required in forklift operation as well as in at least one of the following: pipefitting, welding, or pump, PLC, electrical, robotics or equipment repair.


Professional Experience

  • Overall work experience of 6 to 8 years with mechanical/electrical background in food or chemical related manufacturing environment.
  • Preventive maintenance scheduling experience preferred.


Technical Skills

  • Good knowledge of craft and skill requirements to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job.
  • Good knowledge of maintenance, planning and scheduling and storeroom processes.
  • Good computer literacy and knowledge of work order system (SAP highly preferred).
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated project planning and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to read standard machine and process drawings, write and provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • EMMS experience preferred.
