Responsibilities

  • Modify, repair, install, and maintain machinery and equipment in processing and packaging departments
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective, quick solutions
  • Operate various machine shop tools including drill presses and grinders
  • Set up, take down, and relocate bakery and packaging equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
  • Respond promptly to equipment-related issues in a customer-oriented manner
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shop and tools

Maintenance Mechanic

Summary

Responsible for providing overall mechanical support to the production group in the areas of packaging as well as processing and facilities to ensure continuous operations.

Pay Rate:

$41 - $49/hour based on experience, certifications and skills
  • $1/hour night premium
  • $2/hour weekend premium
  • Earn more with consistent overtime availability

Shift:

Continental, rotating between Days/Nights every 2 weeks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of machinery, equipment and facilities in the processing & packaging departments
  • Diagnose mechanical problems, provide quick & innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving
  • Operates drill press, grinder, saws, and all other machine shop tools
  • Setup, takedown, and relocation of Bakery and Packaging equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, and safety inspections
  • Provide solution to routine or unique equipment problems
  • Promptly respond to equipment related issues with customer oriented manner
  • Equipment PM (Preventive Maintenance) - responsible for maintaining equipment in safe working condition, lubricating necessary parts, changing worn out or damaged parts
  • Equipment (Production) - helps production setup the equipment on the line and troubleshoot/repair equipment during shift.
  • Shop House Keeping - responsible for maintaining maintenance shop and tool box organized and clean
  • Filling Out Shift Report - responsible for filling out electronically the shift report in specific issue's or tasks completed during shift.
  • Ordering Parts - Responsible for ordering parts that get used and helping the Maintenance Planner maintain shop inventory

Required Experience
  • Millwright License or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and/or manufacturing environment (food industry is highly preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures is an asset
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs is an asset
  • Mechanical training or experience is preferred
  • Committed to working towards a Mechanical Certification
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Passionate about mechanical repair
