Job Description

This position is an important part of a high-performance team; a mechanic is involved in the successful daily completion of assigned work either on a priority basis or continuing basis as assigned by the maintenance management team.

This position requires minimal direction from management, in a team-based filling and packaging production environment to manufacture food. The ideal candidate will be able to safely perform and guide the repair, replacement, installation, inspection, enhancement, optimization, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure equipment reliability. The Maintenance Mechanic is to work safely and not take short cuts with themselves or any other employee.

Responsibilities:
  • Performing all job duties with safety as a primary objective while following established GMP's, Safety Regulatory, and Strata's Foodservice procedures and policies
  • Supporting full department compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting near misses
  • Ability to read, understand and create corrective action work orders when required.
  • Utilize, respond and document all scheduled and unscheduled work orders in the DirectLine CMMS system.
  • Identifying high-risk safety or productivity issues and working to remedy them
  • Performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs to manufacturing equipment as needed
  • Servicing and repairing plant facility equipment such as air compressors, heat exchangers, boilers, wastewater system, etc.
  • Employee must be able to troubleshoot equipment when line operators have problems with the production lines. Finding solutions to line breakdowns can be simple or complex.
  • Interacting with line operators when troubleshooting problems; must be able to listen and ask the right questions to constructively determine the cause and correct the issue
  • Providing assistance to other maintenance employees as able and assigned
  • Train other employees in qualified areas
  • Look for opportunities to help work get done safer, faster, and more cost effectively
  • Contributing to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing wastage in pursuit of daily work
  • Support cost control goals of minimum part sparing consistent with production goals


Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and effective troubleshooting skills on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Proficient in reading schematics and using basic electrical measuring devices
  • Must have boiler license
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Strong problem solving and math skills
  • 5+ years in related experience in oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, or process manufacturing facility
  • 5+ years of experience in similar role


Additional Information

The job is performed in a manufacturing plant. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil, and smoke may occur. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel toed shoes, appropriate clothing, hard hat) is required in manufacturing plants. Activities include extended periods of standing and extensive work with various devices and heavy machinery.

This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights

Physical: Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps and ladders on occasions, sitting at office desk work, sometimes in cooler atmosphere (35-45 degrees), sometimes in engine room (+ 95 degrees in hot months). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Sensory: Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential task.

Hours: 1:30pm - 10:00pm

Wage: $42.16
