Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager in Pueblo, Colorado. PURPOSE OF POSITION Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the maintenance department while developing and driving a proactive maintenance strategy focused on equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, asset lifecycle management, and continuous improvement. This role will lead and create a reliability-centered maintenance culture that maximizes safety, equipment uptime, operational performance, and cost effectiveness. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES SAFETY: • Champion safety through direct instruction and monitoring of employees. • Ensure that employees perform their tasks in a safe manner which is in compliance with applicable policies and regulations. • Manage the environmental program, including waste reduction initiatives and proper control and disposal of waste. • Quickly address and fix safety issues that need maintenance to repair. • Assist in the development and promotion of the safety program. QUALITY: • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) activities for recurring equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions. • Establish and monitor reliability KPIs including equipment uptime, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), PM compliance, and maintenance backlog. • Utilize CMMS systems to manage work orders, maintenance planning, asset history, and reliability improvements. • Partner with operations to identify and eliminate chronic equipment losses. • Maintain the plant's equipment and facilities, including the accurate diagnosis of problems and the timely and cost-effective repair. • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. • Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. • Identify continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability and employee development. ON-TIME DELIVERY: • Maintain a preventive maintenance compliance rate of 90% or greater while minimizing production disruptions. • Develop maintenance shutdown, outage, and turnaround plans to ensure efficient execution of critical work. • Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams to maximize equipment availability and overall plant throughput. • Control operating budget to plan, including the investigation of cost-effective solutions to machine and facility repairs. • Maximize productivity by effectively planning and executing work. • Identify opportunities to reduce costs by: improving processes, controlling labor and overtime, reducing waste and shop consumables. • Ensure time and materials are accurately reported. • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations. COST: • Drive asset management strategies that extend equipment life and reduce total cost of ownership. • Optimize spare parts inventory through criticality assessments and reliability-based stocking strategies. • Identify and implement predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and condition monitoring where applicable. • Reduce reactive maintenance work through disciplined planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive maintenance activities. • Control operating budget to plan, including the investigation of cost-effective solutions to machine and facility repairs. • Maximize productivity by effectively planning and executing work. • Identify opportunities to reduce costs by improving processes, controlling labor and overtime, and reducing waste and shop consumables. • Ensure time and materials are accurate. • Recommend, plan, and implement any new capital improvements, including equipment and machinery. • Responsible for eliminating all causes of failure and ensuring full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel. • Creates and manages the maintenance budgets. RELIABILITY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: • Lead the site's reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategy. • Establish a culture of proactive maintenance and equipment ownership. • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on OEE, reliability, maintenance efficiency, and asset utilization. • Utilize data analysis to identify equipment trends and prioritize reliability improvement projects. • Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives and operator care programs. • Develop standard maintenance procedures and best practices across all plant assets. PEOPLE: • Develop employees through coaching, mentoring and providing training opportunities. • Work with all levels of employees (hourly and management) and all departments to discuss and resolve maintenance issues. ENVIRONMENTAL: • Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies. Other Duties as Assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: • Postsecondary diploma or degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing, Production Operations, or a related field. FIELD OF EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience, with increasing levels of responsibility. • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory, leadership, or management experience. • Demonstrated hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of production equipment. • Experience implementing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs in a manufacturing environment. • Experience utilizing CMMS platforms for maintenance planning, scheduling, and reliability improvement. • Knowledge of reliability methodologies including TPM, RCA, FMEA, RCM, and condition-based monitoring. • Demonstrated success in reducing unplanned downtime and improving equipment reliability metrics. • Strong electrical knowledge, including power distribution systems, motors, PLCs, air compressors, and hydraulic systems. • Proven ability to develop, implement, and monitor processes that enhance equipment reliability while reducing operational costs. • Experience managing complex projects and applying sound electrical, mechanical, and leadership principles to achieve business objectives. • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and lead cross-functional teams. • Capable of exercising sound judgment and making informed decisions with minimal supervision. • Highly responsible, detail-oriented, and attentive to quality and accuracy. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; occasional standing and walking for your scheduled shift. • Must remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout the building to access files. • Must work effectively in a noisy environment. • Site inspections required to identify and address safety concerns. • Ability to lift and move equipment or objects up to 20-25 pounds occasionally. • Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. • Occasional travel required, involving walking, standing, sitting, and driving for varying durations. • Frequent use of hands and arms for dialling phones and using a computer mouse.
