SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Liquid Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities within Solina USA's liquid and sauce manufacturing operations. This role directs maintenance teams in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of production equipment, facility utilities, and process systems.

This position ensures maximum equipment reliability, supports continuous improvement, and plays a key role in maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing processes. A strong working knowledge of Winpak pouch machines-including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization-is highly preferred.

The Maintenance Department Manager partners closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Sanitation, and Safety teams to support daily operations and long-term process readiness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads maintenance teams in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across all liquid and sauce processing and packaging areas.


  • Oversees maintenance of Winpak W-18 and W-25 pouch machines, including performance optimization, troubleshooting, parts management, and technician training.


  • Oversees maintenance and troubleshooting of key processing and packaging equipment including steam-jacketed cooking vessels, high shear mixers, positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, plate-and-frame and double-tube heat exchangers, load cells, modular belt conveyors, checkweighers, case erectors, case tapers, thermal transfer printers, ink jet printers, and case labelers.


  • Manages and maintains the site's process waste treatment system, ensuring compliance with all City of North Las Vegas discharge and environmental regulations.


  • Develops and executes maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve equipment availability and reliability.


  • Creates and manages maintenance schedules in partnership with Production to minimize impact on output.


  • Manages maintenance operating budget, including spare parts inventory, vendor contracts, and equipment service agreements.


  • Ensures all maintenance work complies with FDA, OSHA, and internal Solina safety, sanitation, and quality standards.


  • Implements and maintains maintenance systems, including work order management, PM documentation, equipment history, and technical libraries.


  • Develops and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, maintenance response time, PM completion rate, contractor performance, and reliability improvements.


  • Provides technical leadership and support for process and packaging equipment throughout the plant.


  • Conducts root cause analysis for equipment failures and implements corrective and preventive actions.


  • Manages contractors and outside service providers, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and performance expectations.


  • Drives continuous improvement activities to enhance performance, reduce cost, and support new product or equipment commissioning.


  • Maintains accurate maintenance logs, parts inventories, and compliance documentation.


  • Trains and develops maintenance personnel, ensuring strong bench strength and consistent technical capability across shifts.


  • Attends and contributes to regular cross-departmental company communication meetings.


REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience providing the required knowledge and skills will be considered. Typical qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.


  • 5+ years of maintenance management or supervisory experience in food manufacturing, preferably liquid or sauce processing.


  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.


  • Experience managing and developing maintenance teams.


  • Working knowledge of Winpak pouch machines; ability to direct maintenance, diagnose issues, and train staff.


  • Proficient with maintenance management systems, PM programs, and work order processes.


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.


  • Excellent planning, scheduling, and prioritysetting abilities.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior hands-on experience with Winpak W-18, W-25, or similar pouching systems.


  • Experience with utilities such as boilers, refrigeration systems, compressed air, HVAC, and CIP systems.


  • Strong understanding of sanitary equipment design and food processing standards.


  • Experience leading TPM, Lean, or reliabilitycentered maintenance initiatives.


  • Familiarity with PLCs, instrumentation, and automation troubleshooting.


  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.


  • Strong presentation and executive communication skills.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provides leadership and guidance to maintenance supervisors, mechanics, technicians, and contracted service providers. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, performance evaluation, and discipline in accordance with company policies.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel required; occasional vendor visits or support at other Solina facilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily works within manufacturing facilities and maintenance areas.


  • Regular exposure to production environments including heat, noise, moving equipment, and cleaning chemicals.


  • Must be able to walk, bend, climb, and work in equipment or utility spaces as required.


  • Must be available 24/7 in the event of a facility emergency.


  • May be required to work extended hours to support production or urgent maintenance needs.


  • Must be able to manage and supervise weekend Maintenance Department or Production activities.


  • Safety shoes and appropriate PPE required.
