About the role

The Maintenance Manager provides leadership and strategic direction to the site maintenance organization, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of plant assets. This role is responsible for driving daily execution while advancing long-term asset reliability goals through the consistent application of maintenance and reliability best practices.

The ideal candidate is a proven people leader with strong technical expertise who can work effectively across disciplines and organizational levels. This position has direct oversight of skilled trades, including Mechanics, Welders, and electrical and instrumentation (E&I) Technicians.

Key Objectives
  • Serve as a Safety Leader, ensuring safety is integrated into all maintenance planning and execution activities
  • Partner closely with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) teams, with a goal of zero incidents and continuous EHS performance improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk, improve productivity and efficiency, and control maintenance costs


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence
  • Ensure maintenance and reliability best practices are consistently followed across the site
  • Provide leadership and expertise during events impacting site safety, health, and environmental performance
  • Plan, develop, and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods to improve equipment reliability, reduce operating costs, and optimize labor and material utilization
  • Lead the selection, assignment, coaching, development, and performance management of maintenance personnel
  • Manage maintenance shops comprising mechanical and E&I crafts
  • Forecast maintenance staffing needs and support hiring and workforce planning
  • Develop and maintain a rolling 5-year site maintenance strategy
  • Establish and maintain a maintenance metrics dashboard to drive performance and prioritize improvement initiatives
  • Develop annual and monthly maintenance budgets and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Build and sustain a strong cost-management structure that identifies short- and long-term cost-reduction opportunities
  • Lead the site Work Management Program (WMP) to ensure cost-competitive planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Support and optimize the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and related tools
  • Provide leadership and direction for outage planning and execution, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Drive reliability improvements using root cause analysis and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies
  • Inspect operating equipment to ensure conformance with operational and safety standards
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and quality functions to resolve maintenance issues and improve equipment performance


Qualifications, Education & Skills
  • Waste-to-Energy maintenance experience or a strong background in power generation, industrial, or chemical plant maintenance is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience required
  • Engineering degree preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Familiarity with NFPA Arc Flash safety requirements
  • Proficiency in work management processes, including planning, scheduling, and preventive maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing major maintenance outages
  • Thorough understanding of Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance programs
  • Experience with reliability tools such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Solid understanding of Lean, 5S, and reliability process improvement methodologies


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb routinely
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to qualify for and wear a full-face respirator
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions

Pay Transparency

The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $108,900.00 - $155,600.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
