About the role

TheMaintenance Managerprovides leadership and strategic direction for all maintenance and reliability activities at the facility and reports directly to the Facility Manager. This roleis responsible forleading the maintenance team in achieving daily, annual, and long-term asset reliability, safety, and operational performance goals through the effective application of maintenance and reliability programs, outage planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate willpossessa strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance, reliability, mechanical integrity, quality assurance, and work management practices within a heavy industrial or power generation environment.Therole requires a collaborative leader capable of working across multiple departments and systems while building strong working relationships with Operations, Engineering, contractors, regional support teams, and site leadership.

The Maintenance Manageris responsible fororganizing and overseeing planned, corrective, and emergent maintenance activities, including major and minor facility outages. This position provides leadership to Mechanics, Welders, and Electrical & Instrumentation personnel, while also acting as a primary point of contact for maintenance contractors and technical service providers.

The ideal candidate willdemonstratestrong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to lead improvement initiatives, support technical problem-solving efforts, and drive a culture of safety, accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement across the site.

Goals for the role

 Act as a Safety Leader to ensure individual and team safety remain the top priority in the planning and execution of all work activities.

 Work closely with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) personnel to support regulatory compliance, target zero incidents, and drive continuous improvement in site safety and environmental performance.

 Act as a collaborative leader by fostering strong integration between Operations and Maintenance to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance through shared planning, communication, and aligned decision-making.

 Drive equipment reliability and long-term asset health through proactive maintenance strategies, effective planning, preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Develop and mentor maintenance personnel by fostering accountability, teamwork, technical growth, leadership development, and a culture of operational excellence.

 Support efficient outage planning and execution to achieve safety, scope, schedule, budget, and qualityobjectives.

 Support the facilitys operational and financialobjectivesby improving equipment availability, reducing unplanned downtime,optimizingmaintenance costs, and promoting efficient use of labor and materials.

 Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and ownership through collaboration, employee engagement, and data-driven decision-making.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 Lead the promotion of a strong safety and environmental stewardship culture. Contribute managerial and leadershipexpertiseto activitiesimpactingthe safety, health, environmental, and operational performance of the site.

 Plan, develop, and implement methods and procedures designed to improve plant reliability, operational efficiency, laborutilization, and cost performance.

 Lead theselection, assignment, development, coaching, and performance evaluation of maintenance personnel.

 Manage Maintenance Shopscomprisedof both Mechanical and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) trades with advanced technical skills.

 Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and site leadership to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance through collaborative planning and execution.

 Work with the Facility Manager to develop and implement yearly and monthly maintenance budgets and support achievement of budget targets.

 Provide leadership and direction for the site Work Management Program (WMP), including planning, scheduling, backlog management, and maintenance best practices.

 Support the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and associated maintenance, reliability, and work management tools.

 Provide overall direction and vision for outage planning processes and teams coordinating planned shutdowns and major maintenance activities.

 Drive reliability improvements byidentifyinggaps between equipment performance and reliability goals, and implementing corrective actions through preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.

Participatein and progressively lead Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), audits, emergency drills, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Ensure equipment inspections and maintenance activities are completedin accordance withinternal technical standards, ISO 14001 requirements, regulatory obligations, and site compliance programs.

 Collaborate with management, engineering, operations, and quality personnel to resolve maintenance issues and improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.

 Manage purchase orders, requisitions, work orders, contractor documentation, client and corporate reports, and other related administrative responsibilities ina timelyand organized manner.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

Demonstratedcommitment to safety as the highest priority, with the ability to lead by example, reinforce Life Critical Rules and safe work practices, and foster a culture where all work is planned and executed with safety as the primary consideration.

Demonstratedability to work collaboratively across departments and build strong working relationships with Operations, Engineering, EHS, contractors, and site leadership. Must be a team-oriented leader who values open communication, collaborative problem-solving, and shared accountability for site performance. Actively supports and develops others through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and a willingness to contribute to overall team success.

 Waste-to-Energy maintenance experience, or a strong background in power generation, heavy industrial, chemical processing, or similar industrial maintenance environments preferred.

 Progressive supervisory and/or management experience in an industrial maintenance environment preferred.

 Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and regulatory compliance activities considered an asset.

 Experience leading or working within a unionized industrial environment considered an asset.

 Bachelors degree or Engineering degree preferred. Power Engineering certification and/or Red Seal certification in a maintenance-related trade will also be strongly considered when coupled with maintenance planning and leadership experience.

 Strong knowledge of maintenance budgeting, planning, scheduling, and maintenance methodologies.

Proficiencyin work management processes including planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and outage coordination.

 Thorough understanding of Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance practices, and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.

 Experience involving the design, repair, maintenance, reliability, inspection, and/or failure analysis of industrial or process equipment.

 Strong computer skills, including experience with CMMS systems such as ALM/PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

 Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

 Knowledge of relevant industrial codes, standards, and compliance programs, including NFPA and ISO 14001, considered an asset.

 Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including experience with KPI development, data analysis, and project planning, considered an asset.
