Manufacturing Operations

  • Manages all maintenance/SBM/RHB/IM operations within appropriate process guidelines and budgets;
  • Oversees all cost control/justification for department, including purchasing of machine repair parts;
  • Develops and implements modifications and improvements, recommending specifications and scheduling for new projects and process improvements;
  • Schedules daily repair activities;
  • Maintains preventive maintenance program and insures that these are performed as scheduled;
  • Supervises and inspects repair and maintenance work to insure the effective, efficient and up-to-date maintenance and repair technology practices are used;
  • Reviews and analyzes maintenance work orders to ensure that proper repair was made and trends in machine issues are identified;
  • Maintains work order system;
  • Actively meets with vendors and suppliers to insure best price/quality are being received on all part and/or repair orders;
  • Maintains and insures organization of part inventory;
  • Maintains physical plant including grounds;
  • Coordinates with outside repair vendors and insures that their work is completed according to standard procedures.
  • Ensures that all employees in the department adhere to safety guidelines and conform to all Safety Absolutes;
  • Supervises and insures that the quality of all products produced meet the customer’s specifications.
  • Works with Corporate Engineering group on all new installation/refurbishment projects;
  • Monitors daily scrap and regrind totals to ensure that all material usage is being maximized and scrap is kept at a minimum;
  • Actively meets with customers to insure quality is being maintained and customer expectations are being met.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)

Personnel:

  • Lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by:
  • Insuring that all employees are working safely and have been provided
    • the correct safety instruction and PPE to perform their jobs;
  • Achieve a goal of zero recordable and lost time accidents;
  • Providing definition of job duties;
  • Providing training for all employees to ensure that their skills and knowledge is adequate to perform all functions of their job;  
  • Conducting performance evaluations and work performance management opportunities;
  • Defining criteria for personnel advancement;
  • Administer coaching/counseling as required in a timely manner;
  • Enforce personnel policies and procedures; complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner;
  • Assists in the selection of staff;
  • Control employee overtime hours.

Manufacturing Support:

  • Assist other departments with special projects as assigned.
  • Actively participate in production and safety management team meetings as requested.

Authorities:

  • Authority to shut down production or stop any machine for any reason deemed necessary
  • Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management
  • Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard
  • Stop production or shutdown equipment for any machine malfunction deemed to be a functional property

Qualification Requirements:

Education:

BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to peers and subordinates
  • Processing knowledge of injection molding, stretch blow molding and reheat and blow molding equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance Program development
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work some overtime, as necessary
  • Preparation of cost estimates, budgets, correspondence and status reports
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and automated work order tracking system.

Experience:

8-10 years of progressive experience as a Molding, Maintenance or Production Manager in a high volume-manufacturing environment.

Organization Relationships:

  • Reports to Plant Manager
  • Interacts with Human Resources, Buyer/Planner, Quality Control, Warehouse, Tool Room, Customer Service and Sales.
  • Interacts with equipment vendors and parts suppliers.
