Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Manager must possess the desire and ability to manage the maintenance and repair for all areas of the Plant. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading and developing a team of maintenance technicians in a plant that operates 24/7. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with the Site Director and collaborate with representatives of Corporate Engineering, Quality, Production, and Safety. The ideal candidate for this role excels in a fast paced, rigorous environment and desires a dynamic, professional position that promotes continuous improvement.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manages maintenance personnel including job assignments, training, and development.


  • Provide on and off-hour emergency response to major equipment issues, damage control, and personnel assignment as needed.


  • Ensure regulatory compliance by enforcing all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety rules and procedures. Advise management of discrepancies and provide documentation as required.


  • Maintain and store all tools and other maintenance equipment so it is easily accessible and in good working order when needed for a job.


  • Deliver maintenance programs with an emphasis toward OEE based performance and industry KPI standards.


  • Responsible for maintaining maintenance inventory and backup equipment/parts.


  • Administer department budget within established guidelines.


  • Manage a safe working environment for all maintenance personnel.


  • Inspects and audits completed work for conformance and compliance and suggests improvement ideas.


  • Responsible for the maintenance and use of Preventative Maintenance program / work order program and ensure that all personnel follow its guidelines.


  • Proactively decrease down time and maintenance cost.


  • Assist Engineering Department with project development and implementation.


  • Ensure maintenance activities and personnel comply with SQF Level 3 requirements.


  • Manage the calibration of required equipment.


  • Manages outside contractors for equipment repair and support.


COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.


  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.


  • Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.


  • Proficient if Microsoft Office.


  • Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated.


  • Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems a plus

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or commensurate experience.


  • Experience: 5 years of maintenance management experience or more.
