Lactalis USA, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Maintenance Manager based in Buffalo, NY.
Summary : Responsible for all daily Maintenance functions in support of the Plant including coordination and activities of the Maintenance Supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, production and packaging areas and related equipment, warehouse areas, office areas, and grounds. Planning and evaluation of all Maintenance activities will be part of this responsibility. Will need to be able to work effectively with all levels of plant management regarding any Maintenance issues. Effective coordination and communications with all plant personnel is of utmost importance. Technical ability to assess systems for re-engineering or troubleshooting at both hands-on levels and Engineering levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Cooperate with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals. Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures. 2. Responsible for setting up and managing systems for preventative maintenance for the manufacturing operation. 3. Responsible for the complete Maintenance system including Preventive and daily maintenance activities. 4. Recruits and develops staff with the necessary skills to support the maintenance responsibilities for the plant. 5. Pro-actively communicates and responds to employee questions and concerns. 6. Daily "coaching" of all levels in the department and coordination of engineering needs, parts, PM, reactive maintenance, down day coordination, and reporting of events. 7. Continues to access skill levels and recommends developmental activities as appropriate. 8. Continually evaluates the capabilities of the maintenance department relating to equipment, tools and other items necessary to provide a satisfactory level of service to the plant. Will recommend, as appropriate, upgrades. Will monitor maintenance department effectiveness and efficiency constantly and make improvements. 9. Manages maintenance level projects. 10. Continually analyzes department budget with the Plant Director. Ensures proper documentation is provided for justification. 11. Develops a variety of systems and methods to measure effectiveness of the maintenance department. 12. Continuously seeks new ways of improving performance and controlling costs. 13. Operates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals. 14. Collects and provides any data necessary for budget creation and implementation. 15. Participates in operating budget, goals, and objectives of the department and works toward meeting and/or exceeding these expectations. 16. Actively works on production floor to facilitate the exchange of data between various departments.

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Dairy or other food related experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work required. Strong communication abilities, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of computer software.
• Ability to administrate Maintenance Department projects and run projects effectively with attention to budget and scope.

Education and/or Experience:
• Technical degree in Technical/Engineering discipline preferred.
• Personal qualities of tact, dependability and ability to work well with others are required.
