AREA MANAGER - MAINTENANCEThe Maintenance Manager is accountable for optimizing machinery and equipment uptime to ensure achievement of operational plans; transforming the maintenance culture from a "break down - get it up running" approach to systems based, systematic problem solving approach; reducing maintenance expenses; creating a culture of Continuous Improvement in the Maintenance Department down to each and every maintenance employee; and developing direct reports and organizational capability within the department.
THE AREA MANAGER - MAINTENANCE WILL . . .
- Lead safety as a core value in the Maintenance Department ensuring the prevention of injuries while maintaining business results.
- Create a culture and belief that all equipment failures are preventable.
- Improve equipment and machinery reliability measuring machine uptime as a key metric.
- Build organizational capability in the application of lean tools specifically 6S, Process Management, TPM's, standardized work and rapid cycle improvements
- Maximize plant uptime and equipment process capability through an effective predictive and preventative maintenance program.
- Establish and maintain effective communications with site management, peers and external stakeholders.
- Manage multiple projects in a timely manner while ensuring safety, cost effectiveness and proper resource allocation.
- Responsible for spare parts management- including identification of required spare parts, procurement and inventory management.
- Manage vendors and contractors.
- Work with site EHS personnel to ensure the equipment and machinery meet all state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Develop direct reports and build technical skills appropriate to the functional responsibilities
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR AREA MANAGER - MAINTENANCE- High school diploma required. Four-year college degree is preferred.
- Two or more years' experience as a maintenance manager, maintenance engineer, maintenance support specialist, or maintenance craftsperson in a heavy equipment manufacturing facility.
- Apply management expertise to set direction, resolve problems and provide guidance to employees in their own area of responsibility or department.
- Has breadth and depth of technical or functional expertise in own area of responsibility or department; may acquire knowledge of other related areas of departments.
- Adapts area/departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges.
- Influences or provides input to forecasting and planning resources; may manage allocated budget.
- Knowledge of maintenance systems, programs, services and technology.
- Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems.
- Anticipates and interprets customer needs to identify solutions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend new equipment, and process and maintenance technologies.
