Full Job Description
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Machinist Supervisor (WS-3414-11) to join the team at the 12th Maintenance Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio - Randolph AFB, Texas! In this position, you would exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work for the Metals Technology Branch.

QUALIFICATIONS

- US Citizenship is required.

- The employee will be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance.

- This is a drug testing position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.

- May be required to occasionally work overtime, rotating shifts, uncommon tours, and weekends on a very rare basis. The traditional shift for this vacancy is Monday through Friday, dayshift hours.

- The work will require the employee to drive a government motor vehicle. An appropriate government driver's license and the ability to determine color vision for runway operations (red, green, and white) will be required.

- At least 1-2 years of CNC programmer and/or operator experience at a minimum is highly desirable. Must be able to operate CNC and other typical machining equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manages the on- and off-equipment aircraft structural repair, machine shop production, and aircraft welding operations for the Fabrication Flight, Metals Technology Section, 12th Maintenance Squadron.

- Incorporates concept/philosophy of balancing manpower, parts and equipment availability against established maintenance standards to ensure the maximum number of aircraft are available at all times to meet the flying schedule.

- Guides and motivates employees to streamline processes and design/create repairs for all assigned aircraft. Coordinates with aircraft engineers to determine the best solution to repair aircraft discrepancies.

- Participates with employees in the development of performance plans. Advises employees in advance of performance expectations and explains new work techniques as required.

- Creates an atmosphere of partnership with customers properly reflecting Maintenance Directorate policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIITES

- Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.

- Basic knowledge of requisition, documentation, problem analyzation and troubleshooting of T-6, T-7, and T-38, and aircraft systems involved in the removal and reinstallation prior to and after machining, and welding of aircraft.

- Knowledge of technical orders, regulations, manuals, and coordinating with engineers to perform the 107 process for technical assistance.

- Extensive knowledge of T-6, T-7, and T-38 aircraft machinist and aircraft welding, and heat treating and process standard AMS-2750.

- Basic knowledge of requisition, documentation, problem analyzation and troubleshooting of T-6, T-7, and T-38, aircraft systems involved in the removal and reinstallation prior to and after machining and welding of aircraft.
