Overviewi3 has an exciting opportunity for a Machinist to support the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division. The TEWD's purpose is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through simulation, testing and evaluation. Candidate will be responsible for mechanical fabrication and assembly of a variety of electromechanical hardware for use within an RF test facility.
Pay Range $31.73 - 51.44 per hour

Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of electromechanical systems such as gimbals.
- Fabrication (using both additive and subtractive manufacturing means) of components for use in mechanical prototypes.
- Setup/troubleshooting of manufacturing systems used for component fabrication.
- Perform quality inspections of components and mechanical subsystems.
Qualifications
Required:
- At least five (5) years of experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in modern manufacturing techniques such as CNC milling and turning operations (Haas and Tormach), and additive and subtractive manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers), computer numerical control (CNC) equipment, and computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Daily operation and maintenance of equipment in a machine shop.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired:
- Experience assessing the feasibility of in-house manufacturing vs. outsourcing and interfacing with outside manufacturing vendors (face-to-face meetings, CAD models).
- Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to document work performed and report results in technical reports and sponsor presentations.
- Experience overseeing shop users, including safety training and proficiency assessment.
Security Clearance:
- Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
