Machining Technical Trainer

Work Schedule:

Onsite – Buffalo, NY

Moog in East Aurora, NY is seeking a Machining Technical Trainer to join our new training center!

In this role, you will work as part of a team to train and mentor employees in the skills, techniques, and best practices required to become proficient in CNC and/or manual Lathe Machining, supporting Moog's precision manufacturing operations. You will ensure that training programs are designed to meet the needs of the organization and its employees, enhancing their technical skills and knowledge. Students will include current employees, new employees, and apprentices. 

*You will work an onsite schedule at our training center located in East Aurora, NY.

To be considered for the Machining Technical Trainer role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • A secondary school qualification (a HS diploma, G.E.D., etc. in the US) or basic vocational/technical education in a related discipline.

  • At least seven (7) years of lathe machining experience, including demonstrated experience delivering technical training and mentoring machinists in a manufacturing environment on both CNC and manual machines.

  • Extensive knowledge of lathe machining processes, including machine setup, tooling, blueprint reading, inspection methods, and safe machining practices.

  • The demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver training sessions, including hands-on workshops, seminars, and online courses.

  • Strong skills in translating technical needs within the business to effective training initiatives to address skills gaps and knowledge transfer protocols.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively teach and mentor students.

  • Must carry a positive attitude and the passion for working with others to help them grow.

It would also be helpful if you had:

  • Proficiency in operations of IT tools, systems and routers, such as Teamcenter and MBS.

  • Experience training machinists in an aerospace, defense, or other highly skilled manufacturing environment.

As the Machining Technical Trainer, you will…

  • Deliver hands-on instruction in lathe machining, including machine setup, tooling selection, blueprint interpretation, inspection techniques, and troubleshooting.

  • Translate Moog specific product and process knowledge to address skills gaps within the organization. 

  • Coach/mentor students on machining safety and best practices.

  • Clearly and concisely present training presentations, engage students, and provide one on one coaching.   

  • Conduct skills gap analyses to identify training needs and develop appropriate training solutions for each student, and for the campus. 

  • Design and develop technical training courses for various levels, from beginners to advanced users.   

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure training programs align with organizational goals and industry standards. 

  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics, and implement improvements as needed. 

  • Demonstrate Moog’s culture and values in everyday processes, interactions, and activities.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $36.00–$52.00 Hourly
