Full Job Description
Shift:( Midnights) Sunday- Thursday, 11:00pm-8:30am

SUMMARY

The Operations Manager responsible for overseeing terminal operations, ensuring safety and customer satisfaction, and maintaining efficient freight flow. Key duties include managing dock equipment, implementing safety protocols, and coordinating with other terminals. The role requires strong decision-making, communication, and organizational skills, along with experience in dispatch and operational processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand Erb operations, freight flows and targets, and how they relate to the Baden terminal.
  • Make decisions in accordance to business needs and requirements with assistance of the Terminal Manager.
  • Ensure "Safety First/Customer First" attitude is maintained at all times.
  • Oversee the safe operation of dock equipment, forklifts, batteries, hand jacks, radios, dock plates, and dock doors.
  • Maintain and implement HACCP requirements in conjunction with the Terminal Manager.
  • Manage and support coverage for vacation and sudden absences for Dispatch and Data Entry with assistance from Terminal Manager.
  • Work with the other terminals and departments to consistently improve freight flow and communication.
  • Monitor and create measurements to determine productivity and accountability with assistance from supervisors.
  • Understand and provide support to manage terminal operations during shift.
  • Respond to performance management and personnel issues and assist with performance evaluations in conjunction department supervisors.
  • Ensure complete training process is followed for all new employees on shift.
  • Investigate and report all accidents and work with WSIB Coordinator regarding all aspects of WSIB.
  • All other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Solid understanding of routing, OS&D, dock, yard procedures, in addition to paper flow as it relates to the operations
  • Strong time management and organizational skills including planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and provide effective support and leadership.
  • Previous dispatch and operational background required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to provide constructive feedback and recognition.
  • Quality decision making skills and ability to use good judgment required.
  • Good computer skills including dispatch software and MS Office applications required.
  • Ability to support operational positions as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Position is based on a 45-hour workweek
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours as needed to support operations.
