Job Summary

The Role
This role provides seasoned professional engineering services in support of resource road, bridge, and related infrastructure programs. Reporting to an LSO 5 Designated Professional Engineer, the Area Engineer delivers advanced design expertise, authoritative technical judgement, and guidance across planning, design, and implementation activities. The Area Engineer applies extensive experience to ensure public and worker safety, regulatory compliance, and high quality engineering solutions. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing complex designs, advising program and project partners and stakeholders, supporting provincial standards development, and acting as the qualified registered professional responsible for engineering deliverables.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Registration (applications will be screened on the following):
• Must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). Note: "Immediately eligible for registration" means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
• Degree in Civil/Forest engineering or equivalent as recognized by EGBC.
• Five (5) or more years of recent (within the last seven (7) years), related engineering experience in infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
• Related engineering experience in project management of infrastructure planning, design and/or construction projects.
• Field experience monitoring engineering practices and contract compliance.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence (or equivalent) or ability to obtain one immediately.

Preference may be given to those with the following:
• Five (5) or more years recent (within the last 7 years) engineering experience related to the Natural Resource Sector. Further preference may be given for more years of experience in this area.



About this Position

Currently there is 1 permanent, full-time position available.
This position can be based out of Kamloops or Williams Lake.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the above locations.
