Starting Salary: $90,000 CAD
The Opportunity: A fully qualified labour relations role that also provides some HR/coordination support. This role is responsible for providing, practical advice and supporting the organization in managing union relationships, collective agreements, and workplace issues. LR support is primarily in Western Canada, with some support to Ontario and Quebec. This role operates with solid subject-matter expertise, influences business decisions, and supports labour relations strategy. Additionally, this role will support the HR and LR team by assisting with reporting, letters and coordinating the execution of safety and/or sales incentives across Canada. This role reports the Director, Human Resources at our Burnaby refinery, while also providing some support to HR and LR across Canada. This role report to the Senior Director, Human Resources.
- Provide advice to leaders on unionized workforce issues and labour relations matters
- Interpret and apply collective agreements across multiple jurisdictions and legacy organizations
- Support grievance management, investigations, and resolution strategies, ensuring alignment with Sunoco's broader LR philosophy and strategy.
- Prepare documentation and research; support preparation for arbitration and labour board matters
- Contribute to collective bargaining preparation, including data analysis, costing, and proposal development
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour legislation and internal policies
- Support integration and harmonization of labour practices, policies, and agreements as part of Sunoco transition
- Build effective relationships with union representatives and internal stakeholders
- Deliver training and coaching to leaders on contract administration and labour relations practices
- Analyze labour relations trends and provide insights to support proactive decision-making
- Support the HR and LR teams with reporting, analysis and document preparation.
Education: - Post-secondary education in HR, Industrial Relations, or related field
Requirements: - 5+ years of progressive labour relations experience, ideally in a unionized and multi-jurisdictional environment
- Experience supporting collective bargaining and grievance/arbitration processes
- Experience in HR generalist and/or HR Coordinator roles considered an asset
