Raytheon Field Engineering is currently seeking a Phalanx Technical Trainer. In this dual-role position, you will serve as both a technical trainer and a field engineering support specialist for the Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS).

You will develop and deliver technical training for Field Engineers, while also providing hands-on maintenance and system support for the U.S. Army customer. As the technical subject matter expert, you will be expected to address all operational and maintenance-related inquiries regarding the system.

This onsite role will be located at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.

What You Will Do
  • Train, evaluate, and certify Field Engineers prior to deployment, partnering closely with their management teams.
  • Develop training programs, schedules, and timelines to deliver technical instruction to newly hired personnel.
  • Provide expert guidance and perform testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on the Land Based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS).
  • Analyze current operational and deployed scenarios to design and adapt training that reflects real-world system usage.
  • Assess Field Engineer performance, identify gaps in knowledge or skills, and create targeted lesson plans to address those gaps.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical specialists to refine lesson plans, validate documentation, and ensure accurate, up-to-date technical content.
  • Support program operations at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, or other CONUS locations when training is not actively being conducted.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Direct, hands-on experience delivering technical training.
  • Experience working with the Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) and/or the Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS).
  • Hands-on electronics experience, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with tools and test equipment that are commonly used in electronic systems maintenance and testing.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Graduation from a U.S. military sensor or radar technical school.
  • Strong understanding of sensor and radar system operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of military protocol and operational standards.
  • Prior military experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous deployment experience in a combat environment.
  • Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, manage workload effectively, and work independently.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
