Position Overview:
Responsible for developing and executing inventory, supply chain, capacity, and asset planning strategies that support Finning Exchange operations. Partners with internal stakeholders and Caterpillar to optimize inventory investments, manage Caterpillar seed spend and Caterpillar Reman core recovery performance, and ensure overall supply chain readiness to support customer demand. Provides analytical leadership through forecasting, capacity modelling, network strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives while balancing customer service, working capital, and operational efficiency objectives.

Job Description:

  • Develop and maintain inventory strategies that support Exchange operational objectives, customer service performance, and working capital targets
  • Analyze inventory investment, demand trends, consumption patterns, service levels, and supply constraints to determine optimal stocking strategies
  • Maintain and adjust supplemental production support strategies including utilizing Caterpillar and other Caterpillar Dealer Reman programs, and network rebuild capacity balancing
  • Develop and administer strategies to maximize recovery and return of cores under Caterpillar Reman programs, and monitor recovery rates, outstanding core liabilities, financial exposure, and overall performance of Caterpillar core returns
  • Create scenario-based planning models that assess operational impacts from demand changes, inventory growth, and strategic programs
  • Develop short-term and long-term capacity planning models to support Exchange growth and operational readiness, including labour requirements, warehouse space utilization, production bay capacity, asset availability, and network constraints
  • Support capacity expansion recommendations through business cases development that aligns with Finning strategic growth initiatives
  • Lead development of planning tools, automation solutions, data infrastructure, and reporting enhancements that improve planning effectiveness and decision quality
  • Provide planning leadership and subject matter expertise to cross-functional teams and support the development of planning best practices across Exchange operations


Qualifications:
  • Progressive experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, forecasting, or operations planning
  • Experience managing large inventory portfolios and working capital
  • Experience leveraging analytical tools to drive business decisions
  • Bachelor of Commerce or other relevant post-secondary education considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, advanced verbal and written communication
  • Ability to present concise summaries, with data or elaboration ready if details are required, specifically related to presenting to senior leadership
  • Strategic planning and problem solving, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Working capital management concepts
  • Leadership without direct authority
  • Capacity planning methodologies and analytical and modelling capabilities
  • Strong financial and working capital awareness
  • Process improvement and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability assess and reprioritize tasks routinely driving effective time management
  • Familiarity with M3, Lawson, and proficient in Excel. Power BI, SQL, or similar analytical platforms is considered an asset
