Overview

The Logistics Security Operations Manager, assigned to a specific client, will conduct transportation and logistics security risk assessments while leading the planning and execution of security operations to protect shipments in transit. The Manager manages the planning and execution of transportation security operations and shipment movements with vendors, third-party providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure secure shipment preparation, receipt, and chain of custody throughout the logistics process, ensuring global support and chain of custody integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Pinkerton's core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
  • Conduct transportation security and logistics risk assessments across routes, carriers, and facilities.
  • Lead operations planning and manage execution of transportation/logistics security plans.
  • Coordinate and manage vendor resources, including managing movements and schedules with third-party providers to support supply chain operations, warehousing, and shipping logistics.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support effective execution of logistics security operations.
  • Oversee shipment preparation and shipment receipt processes to ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring and incident/event response for in-transit shipments.
  • Maintain chain of custody integrity across all logistics operations to ensure security and accountability at every stage.
  • Collaborate with the broader security team to support and maintain a global operations support model.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory/industry standards including C-TPAT, TAPA, and customs regulations relevant to international and domestic shipments.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for shipment handling, incident reporting, and emergency response.
  • Conduct post-incident analysis and reporting, including root cause identification and corrective action recommendations after theft, loss, or security breaches.
  • Track and analyze security metrics/KPIs including incident rates, on-time delivery with security compliance to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support vendor/3PO vetting and performance reviews, ensuring third-party providers meet security standards.
  • Assist with training and awareness programs for staff and partners on chain-of-custody procedures and security best practices.
  • Maintain and update GPS/tracking technology systems used for shipment monitoring, ensuring real-time visibility into cargo status.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and local authorities in the event of theft, hijacking, or other security incidents during transit.
  • Contribute to business continuity planning for supply chain disruptions including weather events, geopolitical issues, labor strikes, etc.
  • Participate in after-action reviews and continuous improvement initiatives for the global logistics security program.
  • Provide flexible, ad hoc support for additional Logistics Security operations activities as business needs require.
  • All other duties, as assigned.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, criminal justice, or a related field with at least five years of experience in transportation security or logistics security operations.

  • CPP and PSP certifications, preferred.
  • Knowledge of loss prevention, asset protection and/or IP protection, preferred.
  • Understanding of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) as it relates to supply chains.
  • Knowledge of ISO 28000, ISO 31000, ISO 17712, and ISO 27002.
  • Understanding of governmental supply chain security programs, AEO, NEEC, PIP, WCO, TAPA and CTPAT certification, preferred.
  • Able to formulate action plans for process improvement initiatives including complex data analysis.
  • Understanding of inventory management and reconciliation principles.
  • Project management skills.
  • Able to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Able to carry out responsibilities with little supervision.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to effectively participate within and/or lead cross-functional projects.
  • Able to multi-task and organize workload for effective implementation.
  • Self-motivated and initiative driven.
  • Computer skills; Google Suite.
